Reflective Journals

Introduction
Journals provided a somewhat free write forum for our thoughts about field work, lecture, group work and other class related topics.  There was also a format that each journal followed offered by Professor Smirnova.

Description
Each journal was due about a month apart from each other.  They gave us the opportunity to explain how we felt about different aspects of the class.  Also, it gave us a chance to write about what we felt was important.  Different concepts were included in the journals and our interpretation of those topics.  They were usually about three to four pages long and somewhat structured.  Also, we could include graphics and clip art if applicable.

Reflection
The journals were difficult in that I was not sure what to include.  It was not as though expectations were not laid out, but I have always thought of journals as a very personal expression of myself and dont really think of publicizing them. I think this affected what people wrote.  Maybe they werent as expressive or truthful.  Perhaps they didnt include certain things.  However, the journals provided a sort of recovery group type of mentality because I realized I wasnt the only one who felt insecure and like a babe in the woods.
