May 23, 2006 (Social and Elections)
Information posted on website by TheCosplayJunkie:

The next meeting is scheduled for sometime next week. Expect it to be a Wednesday Meeting. It's purpose will be to vote on our upcoming President and Vice-President of J-Club.

The next event to take place is the 2006-2007 School Year J-Club Officer Election.

Currently, our fundraiser is underway. Please go to Ms. Sable's room for more information and for the candy to sell.

OVERVIEW posted on forum by TheCosplayJunkie:

YAY! Twas a great success, the banquet/social and elections were! Here's the overview:

The social itself was pretty fun! Chris provided music, Alyssa provided games and TONS of awesome prizes along with ALL of the food, Ms. Sable brought cake, and various people dressed up. (DeeAnna, Sherrel, Tiffany, and I were all in some form of kimono.)

The food from Rice Garden was totally awesome! Sushi, rice, and noodles for all, along with chicken and such of course! Thank Alyssa for the food!!!

We played "Japanese Charades" where items such as Bruce Lee, Utada Hikaru, Land of the Rising Sun, Geisha, Teriyaki Chicken (though that one was a practice round), Chocobo, Final Fantasy, Origami, Cosplay, Jackie Chan, Nintendo, Mario, Luigi, and Kappa were acted out. (I think that was most of them...) Team 1 (Chris, Me, James, Jason, Brandon, and Lisa) won that round and got prizes.

Then came the big thing: ELECTIONS!!!

Your NEW Japanese Club President is... *drumroll*

ALYSSA

And your NEW Japanese Club Vice-President is... *crickets chirp*

JORDAN! (Me)

^.^ THANK YOU FOR THOSE WHO VOTED, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOUR VOTE WAS FOR ME OR NOT. Participation is a good thing!!!

We then had karaoke, were Jason, Chris, Hippie, Deysi, Tiffany, and a few others who escape my mind at the moment sang "HIT IN THE USA" by Beat Crusaders from the anime Beck.

Then it was over.

I'd like to say thank you personally to Ms. Sable and Alyssa who worked tirelessly to make the whole thing possible!

And I'd also like to extend fond farewells to our two seniors: President Hippie and Anime-nia Ambassador Chris (I love you both!). WE'LL MISS YOU!!! *glomps*

May 3, 2006 (Meeting)
Information posted on website by TheCosplayJunkie:

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 at 4:00. Current details are unknown. As soon as I'm informed, I'll post!

OVERVIEW posted on forum by TheCosplayJunkie:

Alrighties. This meeting was a meeting of business!!!

We have finally decided on a way to spend the fund raising money: Our end of year bash!!! It will (tentatively) be held in the 9th grade cafeteria. It will be a catered/voluntarily brough food items event and will have music and door prizes. Girls can wear a kimono, and guys can wear a kimono/yukata with hakama! (Contact me if you want me to make you one; so long as you buy the materials, I have no problem in making one. Just find me as soon as possible!!!) Semi-formal dress is also okay. (From what I can understand, there really isn't a set dress code; ask Alyssa if you have questions on that!)

Secondly, Alyssa had her say on the board. I have no business meddling into that situation, so if you want to know what was said, I'll tell you this: The board has now been disestablished.

Chris and Hippie announced the "Anime-nia Springtime of Youth" Tournament Series. Email Chris ([email protected]) if you want more information on that.

Pocky was randomly given out to different people!

The Suggestion Box was reinforced; SO MAKE SUGGESTIONS FOLKS! No more complaining about what's wrong! Give ways that the club can improve! That's the only way things will get fixed!!!

FINALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: OUR NOMINATIONS FOR NEXT YEAR'S ELECTIONS ARE SET. (Aside from the positions that will be reconsidered next year to account for new members) Below is a list of the nominations and links to the different threads where you can campaign for them:

NOTE: VICE PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT WILL BE ELECTED THIS YEAR! ALL OTHER POSITIONS WILL BE VOTED ON NEXT SCHOOL YEAR TO ACCOUNT FOR NEW MEMBERS!!!

ALSO: I kindly ask that, when campaigning, you don't post, "Well, so-and-so is horrible so you should vote for so-and-so. I, the Admin, will consider that bashing and will delete that post and suspend your account. Please only campaign for one person per position. I don't want a multiple of posts saying "I like so-and-so; vote for them." REAL and LEGITIMATE reasons will be much more helpful. If you campaign for one person per position, your arguments and reasoning will be much more legit.

EXCEPTION: The position of Art and Advertisement may require up to two people, as will Historian, so you may campaign for two people in those positions.

You may post in other campaign topics with QUESTIONS, if you want clarification on their ideas and goals for next year's club.

THANK YOU!!!

Next meeting is undecided, though soon for the Prez and Vice-Prez elections!

NOTICE! The next J-Club meeting will be held this week on Wednesday, 3/08 after school in Rm K132. I can't say what exactly is gonna happen yet. If we can, we'll hand out the candy and stuff to sell, permission forms for the fieldtrip, do t-shirts, etc. It's a lil short notice, but if we hold off the meeting any longer then we won't have much time to do some of these things.

To recap:
[x] Date- 03.08/Wed.
[x] Time- 4pm till 5pm
[x] Place- Rm K132 (Ms. Sable's rm.)
[x] Remember- nothing...

PS- If I forgot to mention anything, or wrote something incorrect, pls email or pm me. Thank so much everyone! Keep on Trucking. Bai! <3

OVERVIEW posted on forum by Ashfox:

Our shortest meeting yet. 20 minutes! >w< We only discussed a few basic things.
[x] Handed out forms for the fieldtrip. (If you need a form you can aquire one from Ms. Sable in RM K132.)
[x] Talked about possibly creating a board. This would include several members gathering together to organize an agenda for future meetings.
[x] Showed off an example of the J-club t-shirt and hat. Here are some low quality images of them: Hat, Shirt Front, Shirt Back. More info on aquiring your own t-shirt and/or hat is in this thread.

Note from TheCosplayJunkie: The original board is offline. Until there is a new topic posted on this matter in the new forum, the link will remain useless

That's pretty much all we talked about, hence the need for only 20 minutes. ^^ If I forgot anything, please let me know. Thanks guys! Remember, we'll be having a meeting the week we get back from spring break. It will be a *drum roll* movie night!

The next J-Club meeting will be held next week on Wednesday, 2/15 after school in Rm K132. Don't forget! It's...

Talent Show Night!

I've already got 3 prizes lined up and they're uber cool! I possibly might get a couple more too, so get excited peoples. ;D

And while we're on the subject, if you're in the club and would like to participate in the show, please stop by Ms. Sable's Room (K132) and request the the talent show form. You must fill it out and return it to her by Monday, 2/13. Doing so will help things run much smoother on Talent Show Night. Thx! ^^

Also, we will be discussing the fundraiser further. We will no longer be doing the bake sale because it's been realized that it'd be way too complicated to get together and do it since we're all in seperate classes. Instead, we will most likely be selling candy. I'll provide further info on the night of. See you there! ^^

To recap:
[x] Date- 02.15/Wed.

[x] Place- Rm K132 (Ms. Sable's rm.)

Much good stuff happenin on this meeting!!

The results of the Talent Show as is follows

---------------------------------------

Jordan Mahilum-3rd Place (The Real Folk Blues from Cowboy Bebop by Yoko Kanno)
Deysi Soto-2nd Place (Artwork on most awesome skateboard)
and our 1st Place winner was...
::drumroll::
Our VP ALYSSA!!!! (Hikari from Kingdom Hearts by Utada Hikaru)
=^^= but we must not forget the most awesome low-budget action film from:
Juan, Aaron, Brandon and Jason!
::applause::
It was a great movie using the best of weapon demonstrations and actual (but staged) combat!

--------------------------------------

Talks about the field trip to the Japanese Gardens ensued, reaching a date for the trip on April 1, 2006. Ready yourselves by getting these things:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$ at least $4 for entry into the gardens and extra money for lunch afterwards.
This should be a great trip!

--------------------------------------

The Bake sale fundraiser fell through, but ol' Alyssa had a plan. She bought a box of suckers from Sam's at around $7 and turned around and sold them for around 25 cents to 50 cents a piece, generating much needed profit. Please contact her for more details.

--------------------------------------

On that note, the money collected will be diverted towards a banquet at the end of the year unless other good suggestions arise. Please attend the next meeting if you would like your vote to count.

Alyssa announced that our fundraiser will be in face a bake sale. More information about the products, sale dates, prices, etc. are pending and will be revealed at the next meeting.
Also, the J-Club talent show will also be next meeting.

The template will be as follows:
Who you are,
What you are planning to show us (has to be school appropiate and under 4mins please)
and if you are needing extra time, talk to Alyssa or Kevin and they will be more than happy to help you and see what they can do! =^^=

A J-club field trip has under development as well.
Kevin has suggested a movie that we all go see together on some weekend that will be designated at a later date when times and location is properly secured. "Memoirs of a Geisha" is our planned movie and you MUST find a way to Cinemark 14 in Cedar Hill (right behind JC Penny and Wal-Mart) and you must bring your own money (including refreshments). (Directions to the theater will also be given. Aquire Kevin for further details.)

If you know others that do not have access to the internet, please do your best to relay this vital information to them as soon as possible. We wouldn't anyone to be left out of anything!!

  • Raffle
  • Pay-2-Play

and some other ideas like that. I know there were a few more ideas, and I am sorry that I cannot remember them.

November 2, 2005 (Meeting/Japanese Cuisine Night)
Information posted on forum by WashuAddict:

Alright, for those who were unable to attend the meeting, Alyssa and Hippie have announced that November 2nd will be the next J-club meeting as well as the Japanese Food night.

Some details are still up for grabs, but what I do know is that Japanese food will be available to all those who attend (even non-members). Hopefully, Alyssa and Hippie will be able to get the J-club out to the public so we can attract more members. There will be a fee for non-members so they are able to come and dine with us, but as far as I know, current members who have paid their dues can get in for free!

Please spread the word about this as Alyssa will be working hard on posters and banners to be placed all over the school advertising the J-club!

Thanx much
-J-club Admins, mods and officers

OVERVIEW posted on forum by WashuAddict:

WHAT A GREAT MEETING!
Great food, great friends, and much great fun!
Foods from fried rice all the way to fried squid, everybody who attended had a great time! =^^=

Aquired a few new members I believe and hopefully Gilderto will receive the officers position!

Not much else to report and I am unsure of the next meeting time, but if we are following the every other week schedule, the next meeting should be November 16th!

Remember to bring $5 if you have not already. Pretty soon, we will have to start turning some of you away if yall have not broughten your dues. If it is a case where you are having financial troubles (with five bucks? *cough*) we will be more leniant though. That's all for now. See you all there! *waves like they do on the discovery channel*

Anywho, to recap:
[x] Date- Wednesday, October 19th.

OVERVIEW posted on forum by WashuAddict:

Alrighty, well we went over the common sense rules for everyone who had no clue. And there is the Japanese Cuisine Night on Nov. 2nd, which is the same night that is our next J-club meeting!

Ash (VP Alyssa), is planning to make poster and banners advertising our club so all of you ppl who made logos that were for the logo contest, bring em by to Ash so she can get those scanned and formatted! A lot of the different logos were good and she would really like to use them!

For the Cuisine night,
Here is the specs of how food will be brought.
This is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if someone brings white rice before you, they are (hopefully) bringing steamed rice.

Follow these guidelines:
Name:
What you are bringing:
Ingredients (for ppl with food allergies):

Maybe we should put the name of the dish on a little card in front of the dish so ppl won't be shocked about what is in there.

ALRIGHT!
IF you ARE BRINGING STUFF! POST NEXT WITH WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING!

Thanx Much

September 28, 2005 (Meeting/Movie Night)
Information posted on forum by TheCosplayJunkie:

Alright! Bring you snacks and drinks, 'cuz it's movie night! We'll be watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, so prepare to read some subtitles!!! Also, if you didn't already pay, REMEMBER YOUR DUES! I'm bringing pocky, yan-yan, and Ramune (hopefully, that's only if my mom's feeling generous)... I'm probably taking along popcorn too...

Logo entries are due on this date!!!

OVERVIEW posted on forum by WashuAddict:

The DHS J-club has decided on a new logo!
One created by our vice-prez, ASH!
::washu fanfare::
(for those who are just tuning in, it's the one with the fan.)
There were many good works that were submitted, some that were simple and some that were complex (it's a milk bottle, I swear! =^^=), but Ash's was voted in and that will become our logo.
Movie-wise...much disturbance in the force as again, there was much talking. All Admins, Mods, and officers stress that you follow the rules set by Hippie, Alyssa, and Chris. They are the boss ya know! That's all I will say on that as you have heard that many many times. FF VII: Advent Children far surpasses Spirits Within. It was a great CGI film and I hope to see it in all of it's engrish grory. =^^=
Great job on the clean up as the floor was much spotless! ::v for victory:: Alright, next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 12, unless spoken otherwise.
Til next time

September 21, 2005 (Meeting/Show and Tell Night)
Information posted on forum by Ashfox:

NOTICE!
The next J-Club meeting will be held the week after next! That means instead of being on 9/14 the next J-Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, 9/21 after school in Rm K132 instead. Remember! Try to bring $5 so we can get a start on our club funds. (Heh, you can give more than $5 if you want! More money means more fun activites. For example, if we got enough money to buy a blow torch, we could get a huge block of ice and watch it melt! =D

As of now, I am not sure what we have planned for the next meet. But don't forget the Logo Contest! Design a logo for the J-Club and you just might win absolutely nothing! ^^ Actually, who knows, maybe I'll buy you a box of Pocky if you win. I know many of you artistic member are really excited about this contest, so I am looking forward to seeing your awesome designs! Oh and remember it has to be approved by Mr. Chri...I'm not even gonna try to spell his name- so don't draw anything that violates school rules. Though, I'm sure no one will. ^^

Also, since the next meet is two weeks from now, so I decided why not have a Show-and-Tell! =D Bring your drawings, Japanese food, maybe sing a J-pop song or two, anything as long as it has to do with Japanese culture. This is your chance to show off so don't miss it! ^^

Anywho, to recap:
[x] Date- 09.21/Wed.
[x] Time- 4pm till 5pm (unless it runs longer >w<)
[x] Place- Rm K132 (Ms. Sable's rm.)
[x] Remember- Bring $5, entries for Logo Contest, and Show-and-Tell

PS- If I forgot to mention anything, or wrote something wrong, pls email or pm me. Thankers muchness everyone! Keep on Trucking. Bai! <3

OVERVIEW posted on forum by WashuAddict:

Alrighty, I believe that this meeting went very well. The amount of talking was a little too high and cause a bit of a backup, but we got that all fixed up really quickly. The show and tell went very well and had much participation. Flags, plushies, singing (great job alyssa! =^^=) , and even Bob Saget made this show and tell much fun. From the looks of the different faces in Sable-sensei's room, I think I saw a couple new faces, which added to the extremely good turnout.

The membership dues were a little questionable, but not to worry, Hippie will be more than happy to take up your $5 dues at any time. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID YOUR DUES, GET THAT MONEY TO HIPPIE ASAP!

Remember guys!
Next meeting is on 9/28! Next week on wednesday!!! Also, bring your snacks and drinks for Movie night at the J-club! We will be viewing Final Fantasy Advent Children (although Tenchi would have been a much better choice...=^^=;;;) and the meeting times will be from 4-6!

We hope to see everyone there!

-J-Club Officers

September 14, 2005 (Meeting)
OVERVIEW posted on forum by WashuAddict:

On the first meeting of the DHS J-club, not much had happened. Basically, it was the assembly of our crew of officers, getting to know each other and sharing ideas and plans for the J-club. Some of the important officers I remember are:

President-Sensei Hippie
Vice-President-Alyssa
Anime-Nia Ambassador-Chris

There are some others like historian, webmaster, and things to that effect, but i forget their names and positions (sorry! =^^=;;;;;)

An art contest has been set up for designs of the J-club shirts and logo. More details, ask Hippie, but it is really self-explanatory. A forum (DUH) was made especially for the DHS J-club as well.

We decided that our meetings would take place on wednesday, but Ms. Sable also has Latin club, so we might have to change the day. Remember that the wednesday 9/21, has been changed to the next meeting day instead of the wednesday 9/14 because of Ms. Sable's Latin Club.

That's about it!
Remember that (unless we decide something different) meetings will take place in room K132, which is Ms. Sable's room.
