Margie Marie Denton, 83, of Cave-in-Rock died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999 at Rosiclare Health Care Center. She is survived by two sisters, Cora Logan of Cave-in-Rock and Madge Shore of Sherman, Tx.; one sister-in-law Lillie Beavers of Cave-in-Rock; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock. Funeral services will be Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Lewis officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, Mich.

Margie Marie Denton was born on September 11, 1915 in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois to John and Maggie Lewis Beavers. She departed this life on September 9, 1999 at 8:20 p.m. at the Rosiclare Health Care Center. At the time of her passing, she was 83 years, 11 month and 29 days old.

In her early years, she lived and worked in Battle Creek, Michigan at a grocery store she and her husband, Bill Arley Oxford, owned. In the early '70s, Bill became ill with cancer and gave up the fight in January of 1971.

After his death, Margie was reunited with her first love of many years earlier, Floyd Adrian (Ted)Denton. After they were married, they moved to Fort, Arkansas where they resided until his death on June 29, 1979.

Margie then moved back to Cave In Rock with her faithful companion Pepe and resided at Boyd's addition beside her sister, Rufina Scott.

When her health scatted to fail, she had her trailer moved to her brother and sister-in-law, Harry Lee and Opal Denton's farm in Cave-In-Rock where they could cart for her. As the years went by and her health worsened, she became a resident of Rosiclare Health Care Center in Rosiclare, Illinois where she remained until her passing.

While she was a resident at Rosiclare Health Care Center, she had the opportunity to share a room with her sister, Rufina Scott, until the Lord called Rufina home in April of this year. Even though Rufina wasn't able to speak, they both were able to communicate with each other, for Margie did the talking for both of them. Just the way they would look at each other or laugh. Who knows, they may have been remembering and reliving old times. Now they are together once again in Heaven just as they have lived most of their lives together as neighbors.
Margie was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Oxford and Ted Denton; her parents, John and Maggie Lewis Beavers; one brother, Lee Beavers; four sisters, Bessie Lantrip, Rufina Scott, Heater Boswell and Ruby Beavers.

Survivors include two sisters, Madge Shores of Sherman, Texas and Corer Logan of Cave In Rock, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Mere Beavers of Cave In Rock and Vena Denton of Rosiclare; four brothers-in-law and their wives, Virgil Denton and (wife) Emma of Shawneetown, John Denton, Jr. of Elizabethtown, James Gordon and Mary Ellen Denton of Elizabethtown and Clifford and Wilder Denton of Moses Lake, Washington. A very special sister-in-law, Opal Denton and her husband, Harry Lee of Cave-In-Rock who both lovingly took care of her until her passing and a host of many nieces and nephews and friends.

The Way To God
If my days were untroubled, and my heart always light
would I seek that fair land, where there is no night
If I never grew weary with the weight of my load
would I search for God's peace at the end of the road

If I never knew sickness,
and never felt pain
Would I reach for a hand,
To help and sustain
If I walked not with sorrow,
and lived without lose
would my soul seek sweet solace
at the foot of the cross
If all I desired was mine,
day by Day would
I kneel before God
and earnestly pray

If God sent no winter,
To freeze me with fear
Would I yearn for the
warmth of spring every year
I ask myself this,
and the answer is plain
If my life was all pleasure
and I never knew pain
I'd seek God less often,
and need him much less
For God's sought more often
For God's sought more often
in times of distress
And no one knows God,
or sees him as plain
As those who have met him,
On the pathway of pain
