Out walking, my soul seeks its food.

                                         It knows what it wants.

leaving again

conspicuous

among stayers

she expects

death while traveling

into the flood

birth while traveling

envy is behind as she goes

tomorrow she will reach it

greed is beside her

she takes it along

still there is giving

without rules travel

playfully travel far

travel in the unfolding

touch wherever you are

dirt more than maps

suspend meaning turn

over in your own head

like turning in bed

deep water monster

I.  Towing the Pop-up (White Sands)

Highway schooners pass.  Aboard

they notice this minor vessel,

that nonetheless carries me into their

element - canoe of the road among

their buffeting wakes.  Overhead someone's

launched a glinting something into

the cloud ways we view as trackless

but they chart and sail.  Some time

after the turn of the new millenium,

records will show established roadheads

above, and followers mark historic

angles of passage above this glitter.
