Welcome to
THE LINK DUMP

I'm sure we all need more and more places to visit on the Internet. If you have a website or email address or a link to something in keeping with the guiding spirit of The Frades Pages, hook me up.

I want to be like him!

Frequently funny

The Obscure Store
Daily updated real weird news stories

POLITICAL WEBSITES -- It doesn't take too many to get the gist of things. Gentlemen, come out fighting!

WAY LEFTWING (for America)
(mostly middle of the road elsewhere)

A very whiny knee-jerk website (and worse since 9/11, to where it's almost entirely unreadable), with lots of grammar mistakes and routine college newspaper editorials thrown in, BUT that often has a good essay among its earnest pinko rants. I check it out a lot, actually. They post daily stuff with grand "end of the world" headlines.

Good name, fairly good site, again a bit over the top since 9/11

WAY RIGHTWING (for America)
(Too afraid to take the next  few steps into fascism, and a lot of "we're Americans, by God, so we're right" kind of self-righteousness  -- but with evidence and  an occasional good writer)

Probably the least obnoxious of the "conservative news" sites. Enlightening, some intelligent folks, whether you agree or not!

Stop arguing over who's liberal and who's conservative -- it's all money that drives American politics, right? This site has stats on how much money companies are giving, which parties politicians are getting it, and why all this guides our entire national policy on most everything.

That settled, here are some of the reasons Al Gore invented the Internet in the first place.

ENGRISH.COM

Endless side-splitting examples of English being  mutilated in Japan on t-shirts, labels, signs, etc. Don't miss this one.

Jesus of the Week!
Profoundly irreverent and funny depictions of Jesus.
Not for the pious.

Rod McKuen's website:
 A Safe Place to Land
I'm not even sure you should go here -- it just struck me as kind of ... poignant

By the way, Rod appears in my "Plummet into Irrelevance" section -- no offense, Rod.

Another one not for the pious. They call it "Jesus21", since we're entering our 21st century of Jesus, and because you probably ought to be 21 to read this stuff.  This site used to be updated all the time, then they just archived everything and add a bit now and then. Lots of cleverness and humor here!

It doesn't get better than this!

Change Your Identity

If you ever need to change your identity, eliminate all records of yourself and so on, here's a complete guide! Whoa!
The H.P. Lovecraft Archive
For the Shoggoth in all of us

The Gas Webring

I'll let you check this out -- an entire ring of sites dedicated to the expulsion of gas from the human body. If you aren't a chuffophile, you can just move along.

Matt Welch

This guy is a great freelance writer who writes all kind of great stuff for different online magazines. I've never met him, but he is also about the same age as me; we were in the Czech Republic at roughly the same time (as a founder of Prognosis), we both married foreigners and hate the INS. Then again, he is famous in his field and also appears to enjoy professional sports.

He comes up with some funny stuff sometimes -- if he only had an editor for all those typos and bad grammar. (UPDATE: This site hasn't been updated since who-knows-when)

I'm happy to boycott him nonetheless.
