Gear Shifting

There are two very common mistakes made by drivers on the road when shifting gears. The first is to always leave their left hand on the gear knob thinking that this prepares themeselves for shifting. Leaving your left hand on the gear knob simply means 50% less steering feedback adn 50% less control of the car. ALWAYS leave your hands on the steering wheel and only put your left hand on the gear knob when you are shifting. Put it back on the steering wheel directly afterwards

The second mistake would be shifting with excessive force. Slamming from one gear to another will actually slow your shifting down, and cause excessive mechanical wear. Proper shifting uses an open palm grip on the top of the shift knob, and a gentle but fast guide from one gear to another.
