OOC Info for the Necropilis Police Department

Ok, so you want to be a cop in Necropolis, MO. eh? You are either crazy, suicidal, incredibly brave or have one hell of secret to hide...maybe all of the above. Whatever the case, you've decided to join the ranks of the most overworked police department on earth.
You are about to play a character in the WoD who is one of those "lucky" individuals most likely to run headlong into supernatural situations. Some of you will be playing members of the city's supernatural population, others will be playing humans. Whatever you choose, you will all be police officers. With that said, lets get to what you can  and can't do, getting approved, PC relations and what is expected of you.

First off, yes, this is a actually game setting. Just like the Camarilla game, the Mage game or Year of the Lotus, this is a game setting for the Necropolis Chronicles. However, it is a sub-game. The Police game is kind of a combined game between all those being run in the Necropolis setting itself. As such, there is going to be interaction between all types of WoD beings. Keep that in mind first and foremost before you take the next step. "Why..." you might ask? The answer is a simple one:
This is meant to give the game as a whole come continuity and common ground for all the players." If you have to play that Garou who MUST kill all kindred on sight, this is not the game for you.The same goes for most of those supernatural comflicts. Not to say that you can't have those conflicts, but you'll have to haggle in a more subtle way. Out and out fighting would draw mortal eyes (and weapons) down on the offenders. The quickest way to a short life is a breach in a police station.

Next, we come to the creation/joining issue. Again this is a sub-game to Necropolis Chronicles, so that means all players here must be approved for the Necropolis setting to join the force. Mechanically,  this works out to go as follows: If you are a
normal (no numina, not active kinfolk, no dhampyr, etc...) then you build your cop and submit him / her right to us. The character gets sapproved and you play. For  everyone else (Mages, Vampires, Werecritters, Kuei jin, etc...) you must submit your character to the appropriate game for primary approval first. Once this is done, then send the character our way. All we will do is check your skills, knowledges, backgrounds and such to make sure you fit and place your PC in the department. The same applies for the DA's office. Oh, btw, as a sidenote, if you play in a game that has creation rules on concepts banning police or public servant archtypes, we cannot accpet your characters. This is a sub-game to the necropolis chronicles and works in conjunction with the other games here. Only mortal cops are ours to completely yea or nea, so please respect your ST's rulings before submitting a character here and making us play the bad guy.

Police and legal staff do have some necessary skills and such for the job. All characters will have to have met these requirements for their rank or position in their respective area.. To look at each go here:

Police and Legal Characters will earn 1 Xp per month,  2  if they send in a monthly report of their case work. The exception to this are normal mortal cops who will earn a base of 3 xp monthly since they belong  to the police game as their main game. The only way to earn more is to be  involved in an active Storyline or truly exceptional Rp. These storylines need not be only police originated. You may earn xp from any of the STs running WoD games in the Necropolis setting. However,  such XP should be reported in monthly as it is gained.

Once you are on the force, you will have all the powers that officers normally have. You will be able to investigate, arrest and haul folks in for questioning. This does not mean you get to bully other players or that people will come along quietly. It does mean that  you can enforce the law though. For the other World of Darkness denizens, it means that the veil, Masqurade or what have you needs to get enforced IC. Cops would report weirdness they encounter along their way.

That is about all there is to tell you aboout the police and law here in Necropolis, MO. The only thing I have left for you is a RP hint. This comes from some real life policemen I know. Police tend to form, close friendships and personal bonds. Out in the street, their lives depend on one another and people who may not have ever spoken to each other become family. Its true when cops say theu look out for their own. They mean every word of it. If  you take down a officer, they react with a terrible swiftness and many aren't trying to arrest you anymore. That said, they also tend to cover for each other on a lot of things, solving problems in house. With that said, bad cops to the side, Police officers generally hold themselves and their peers to very high standards of conduct on duty. just something to think about when you play. Your character is gaining new family, try to keep that in mind.

Before I forget, STs or players wanting Characters on the
Most Wanted list please contact us via the police game contact link or CoST.

   Nuff said?

Then welcome to the world of law enforcement! Have fun ..."
and people, be careful out there."
