I originally planned to showcase some ideas I have for some Bible scenes. I still intend to do this but have decided to also give my testimony as a Christian on this page
I have been a Christian for so long that I don't remember when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I know,, there are Christians perhaps even reading this that say you would remember the date of your salvation if it was real. It's just that I'm 45 and I got saved sometime in my teens. I remember a Sunday afternoon that I rededicated myself to Christ. That's as close as I can come to remembering the time. You see I grew up in church. I have a legacy of faith as I call it. My mom's parents actually were charter members of the church I grew up in. My dad's parents also went to the same church. Every Sunday morning my mom, my sister, and I would drive to town to my granparents house before church. Me and my granddaddy would walk to church while my mom, my sister, and granny would ride to church. We were just churchy people I guess.
I made the comment of a legacy of faith. Let me explain this. The story is told of my granny working in the field behind her house trying to put out a fire in the field. She was not alone. Some of my aunts and uncles were helping. The wind became too great and was blowing the fire towards the house. In the natural, it was obvious that all was lost. It appeared the house would burn. They said that Granny threw her tools down, throwed her hands in the air and cried out "Lord,,, turn the wind!" The wind turned just as she prayed for it to!
My next story of faith becomes more personal. When mom was in her twenties, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This was in the 1950-1960 era. She was operated on twice because the cancer returned after the first operation. They sent her home basically to die. Mom said they sent her home while they consulted over her cancer. Yeah right! In the fifties? Draw your own conclusion as to why they sent her home. They also said that because of the radiation treatment which was harsh that she could never have children. Mom was watching a healing show on tv one day ( you would know the evangelist if I called his name). She saw a little boys foot straighten up on the show. She laid her hand on the side of her neck. She then prayed a very simple prayer, "Lord, if you can heal him, you can heal me" That's all, that's it! Those are the words that mom used when she told me this story! No begging, no pleading, but a simple faith. The results? Mom said she felt the cancer leave her neck while she still had her hand on her neck! She was healed right then and her doctor verified this later. Mom did die of stomach cancer, but she was in her late 60's Oh! I almost forgot about children. She had two! My sister and I are in our forties. Not bad for an impossibilility!
My last story for now. This is even more personal. When I was about 8 I had a lot of ear problems. One time the area behind my ear swelled up even with the outer edges of my ear. Of course Mom was concerned. She and my aunt took off for the doctor's office about 80 miles away. In the mean time they talked themselves into stopping at our pastor's house. Brother Smith, I still remember his touch when they laid hands on my head. While they were praying the swelling went down. All I felt was their hands until they were through, then I felt where the swelling had left. It was a natural feeling of no swelling.
I said all that to say this. I believe in Christ. I believe in His salvation, His healing touch, His ability to take care of me. I believe it, if for nothing else because of what I have seen Him do during my life.
I also believe in what He can do for you if you'll let Him. If you would like to email me about this, please do so. You can reach me at
