EASE OF
INSTALLATION
The even density DECOLUX�
MUF moldings ensure
easy fixing to walls, doors and windows.
FIXING
A range of option are recommended which include:
Nailing
Face nailing at least 25mm from an edge or corner with 40 or 50mm brads to give
a minimum fixing penetration of25mm. Nails should be punched and stopped.
Stapling
Stapling with narrow-crown resin-coated staples with a fixing depth as for
nails.
Screwing
Screw using parallel threaded or particle board screw only (not traditional wood
screws). Always drill a pilot hole equal to the screw diameter at least 25mm
from an edge or corner. Countersink screw hole and stop with a suitable wood or
acrylic gap filler.
Conditioning
It is important to condition DECOLUX�
MUF moldings for 48 hours prior to
installation, in atmospheric condition which are as close as possible to those
the product will experience after installation.

As reconstituted natural timber product DECOLUX� MUF moldings exhibit many of
the same characteristics of natural timber and will expand and contract in
accordance with changes in relative humidity.
FINISHING
DECOLUX� can be painted, stained or clear
finished.
Painting (Brushes or Spray Application)
- Apply a generous coat of clear sanding
sealer to slow down the absorption rate of paint.
- For best result do not thin for the first
primer/undercoat.
Lightly sand with 320 grit paper after the first coat and between subsequent
coat.
Any standard oil based or acrylic paint system can be used on DECOLUX�
MUF moldings.
Staining/Clear finishing
- Apply generous coat sanding sealer, prior
to stain application to slow down absorption rate of stains.
- Apply stain by brush or cloth pad to
clean surface and ensure the color shade is a shade darker than that
eventually required.
- Remove excess stain by wiping along the
length with a clean soft cloth.
- Apply another coat of clear Sanding
Sealer.
- Lightly sand with 320 grit paper, then
apply final coat of Sanding Sealer.
- Apply final coat of clear gloss lacquer
or semigloss lacquer as per preference.�
