WHAT THE OLD MAN WHISPERED IN MY EAR

If you want to be happy
for half an hour,
kill a pig and eat it.

If you want to be happy
for six months,
go and get married.

If you want to be happy
for the rest of your life,
be a gardener!

I am that gardener now,
down on my knees
and planting my garden

with tenderness and care,
slowly watering my seeds
and waiting patiently

for a patch of sun,
blinding to some
but beautiful to me.
WORDS OF PRAISE ...     English version

For the raw Diamonds
of your Intellect;

For the Spearmint
of your fresh Ideas;

For the warm Honey
of your soft-spoken Words;

For the Rainbow
of your wide-eyed Smiles;

For the first Pearls
of your Wisdom;

For the deep blue Sea
of your impatient Heart;

And, not least, for the Chocolate
of your smooth yet wild Passion.

ALABANZA ...     Spanish version

Para los diamantes crudos
de tu intelecto pregunton;

Para la menta verde
de tus frescas ideas;

Para la miel tibia
de tus dulces palabras dichas;

Para el arcoiris
de tus grandes ojos al sonreir;

Para las primeras perlas
de tu sabiduria;

Para el mar profundo
de tu corazon impaciente;

Y, no menos, para el chocolate
de tu suave ya salvaje pasion.
