My cake decorating days began when I worked in a grocery store bakery department at the age of 19. I was just a clerk, boxing cookies, slicing breads, stocking shelves, but the cake decorator and I really hit it off and we became friends. She taught me some basics, and believe it or not, I used to practice on the donuts! I think for awhile we were the only bakery around with maple bars adorned with little pink rosebuds! It was something that came easily and naturally to me, and before long I was decorating cakes at the store, and toying with it at home.

In the past few years I had considered taking some classes, but had assumed they were too expensive. It wasn't until I had taken a part-time job, and had a little spending cash, that I enrolled in the Wilton courses, which are quite affordable! Hooked, and wanting to learn more, I took some amazing fondant and gumpaste courses in Sugar Land at the Cake Craft Shoppe. What better place to learn than in a city called Sugar Land! (grin)

Cake decorating is a passion. As a momma to three beautiful little girls, Kellie, Sarah, and Jessica, I love having a creative outlet to express myself. And the girls are very enthusiastic about it. They enjoy decorating as well, becoming more independent and skillful at it as time goes on. With 3 girls so sweet, how couldn't they be my sweet inspiration!

And if you wonder how anyone could bake so many cakes with three little girls to keep her busy - well, the short answer is bedtime, bedtime, bedtime. To be more accurate, I couldn't do this at all without the wonderful support of my husband, Warren. He is a wonderful daddy, taking care of the girls when I have a large order, even helps me clean the kitchen on occasion! Most of all, he believes in me. I don't know what I would do without him.
