| Day 16: The City, Covent Garden & St. Martin's at Christmas Eve- Cont. | |||||||||||||
| *** Covent Garden: Covent Garden is a fabulous place all year, and especially nice in Christmas time with all the decorations. Santa's Grotto was covered with soap bubbles, which filled the shopping area, and near the shop mulled wine and punch with Christmas cakes were sold. I had the Fruit Punch which was non Alcoholic. In the Covent Garden the shops are a bit turistic but are still nice -- especially the following shops: T-Zone -- selling types of tea and hot chocolate. Banana Books -- Cheap books. And the shops in the lower courtyard -- the Northern one: The Magic shop (selling freshly caught Pixies) The lace shop The Candle shop. Remember: Buying after Christmas is CHEAPER. Links: Covent Garden Start: Covent Garden Tube (Piccadilly Line). End: Same. * St. Martins in the Fields -- I went to hear the Christmas Eve Mass at the church. The quire was fabulous. The church was decorated very nicely, and lit with lot's of candles. The Mass starts at 23:30 but you need to be there at 23:00. I coundn't be there all the mass -- because I had to catch the last buss (which was at 00:40). Note -- there are no night busses and the last tube is at about 23:30.
