Day 14: Holland Park, Portobello Road & Harrods
Day 14 - Sunday - 22/12/02 -
              Holland Park and
** Portobello Road Market:
Holland Park is a nice park next to the Holland Park Tube. The park looks more like a forest, and not as organized as Hyde park or Kensington Gardens - Leaves are covering the trails which are a bit muddy (as it was a rainy day).
It has a nice - yet very small Japanese Garden in it.
I took the tube to Noting Hill Gate Tube  (Central Line) to reach Portobello Road Market (from the tube - turn right and then on the second street left).
As Saturday is the market day no stalls in the street on Sunday, but most of the shops are open.  See
Day 13.

*** Harrods:
From Noting Hill I went to see Harrods - the fabulous shop. The food courts in the ground floor of the shops are amazing - the chocolate room is wonderful. They sell all kinds of caviar, and truffles cost 2900 per kilo - and they were sold out of those. I also saw the bookshop, and the toy department - a whole room full of thousands of cute teddy bears.
In Christmas time the shop is decorated for Christmas and I enjoyed going up the fabulous Egyptian escalators, decorated with trees and lights, listening to carols. On the second floor is "Christmas world" - dedicated to Christmas ornaments.
On the second floor is the Max Brenner Cafe  - serving great hot chocolate.
