Sightseeing in Kyoto
Even though I lived here for FIVE YEARS, only once have friends come to visit me. The invitation was always extended, but they said Japan was too far. Well, at least two friends, Vincent and Seth, made it over before I left. I took them all around the Kansai area, but they were particulary fond of Kyoto, Japan's ancient capital.
Keep your eye on Vincent. He's never one to miss a photo op. Here we are on a bus ride through Kyoto.
We were probably on a bus coming back from this place: Kinkakuji. Nils came along for the fun.
Ryoanji Temple LEFT: Refueling on ice cream and Coke before continuing to sightsee. RIGHT: Even after the break we weren't all that energized to climb those stairs.

Of course, we could only do so much sightseeing and observe so many traditions in one day. After finishing our tour of Kyoto, Vincent and I emulated the elders by partaking in these relaxing massage chairs. Believe me, there's nothing like a nice massage after hours of walking around!
