It was a good tour and we enjoyed panning for gemstones after. Justin didn't see a good place to propose there though. Leaving the caverns we saw a sign for a covered bridge "thataway". I was a tad curious to see how southerners constructed their covered bridges. In junior high I'd done a paper on covered bridges and discovered that Southerners were not into wasting wood when it came to bridges. The covered bridge turned out to be part of a grist mill. We couldn't tell if it was open or not. It looked abandoned and like it would fall over at any minute. Justin and I walked to the other side where we could look over the little river and see the back of the mill. I was wondering what he'd do. I knew he didn't have the ring but it was a Marian feast day and it was a good spot and moment. We were totally alone and enjoying the sunset. Justin all of a sudden said, "Oh, I can't wait." Then he got on one knee and proposed. I, of course said YES. We went to Chili's of all places to celebrate. When Justin got the ring it was the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and we went to the Macaroni Grill which was the first restaurant we went to as a dating couple. He gave me the ring there. Our date is set for October 13th...the day the sun danced at Fatima! |
