| The building of something different ......... |
| I've always wanted to build a car. Something a bit different. Something within my budget and without any time limits. My love of audio means it was going to have to sound good and be original. How could I do this? I like performance and looks, so it had to have these things too. I didn't want to start with too much, or I would be afraid to cut and modify the way I really wanted to. So I found a car that was cheap enough for me, had some performance to start with, and was a bit different for a 'modified' car. The car of choice - A 1986 Toyota aw11 MR2 Supercharger. I have a plan and I hope to show you (if you're interested!) the stages I go through to get there. Lets begin ---> |
| I will break the build down into catagories and put each section on a different page. They are as follows - |
| The amp rack with be under the front 'boot' of the MR2 and will feature 3 amplifiers. The main subwoofer amp will be water cooled with a full radiator/ pump system that will have its own bonnet scoop to allow cool air to pass through the radiator. Large use of perspex - colour - lights - fibreglass will be present. |
| This is where the major work will be. A whole new dash board is planned with tweeter / midrange / midbass built into each eand of the dash, with 2 X 8 inch subwoofers mounted under the dash for 'upfront' bass. Guages will be in the middle and all switches etc will be relocated. New seats - orange vinyl - new door panels - something a bit special. |
| This will be modified to be a 2 part boot. The battery will be relocated here and so will the air filter.. |
| At the moment the car is an automatic (ah!) but I have got most of the bits to do the swap. New shocks, wheels etc will be fitted as well as some form of body enhancement. More horses - fibreglass - wheels. |
