Well.
My mother always told me if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. But I so want to...
Okay, if there was ever a support band designed to make the headliners seem like gods, this was it!
Okay... to start with the singer... he appeared to be a mutated version of Fozzy Bear and you know, that kid from the Simpsons, the one with the terrible voice *grin*, "It happened again...."
The band was a 4 piece, constructed without a bass player and only half a drumkit, which he still only appeared to use half of (in between epilepticly sliding around underneath it). The singer also gave the appearance of playing something in between a keyboard and an organ. Andy Christ (the singer) and "Mike The Hammer: (the drummer) appeared to have noticeable bulges in their pants throughout their set, at least they turn themselves on.
The majority of the lyrics were unitelligible, but I shall recap a few of the ones I managed to decipher...
"the washing machine of love something about a spin cycle" (I guess the bulges don't work very well for the girlfriends...)
"ana kournikova" (I am sure she would be less than impressed)
"Dinner and a show" (these lyrics appeared to constitute the entirety of one song)
"Ooh baby, oh yeah and variations of the aforementioned" (in four songs he said oh yeah approximately 14 times, it was hard to keep count in between our fits of giggling)
Oh my mind has elected to release the rest over the course of sleep last night, they just weren't that memorable.
In the defense of the "legends" they appear to have quite a following, and a number of the, ahem, individuals, thrashing away to the, ahem, music, was astounding. All 20 of them seemed to be having fun!
Andy ended their set at the Evelyn by informing the crowd that they "will be playing, um, where? over the road next Saturday night with, who? Um, oh some Japanese band, I think it's their album launch". So for those of you who are interested I will decipher this into a venue for you,
The Legends of Motorsport are playing at The Punters Club in Fitzroy in support of Tripod Jimmy on the 17th of August.
Anyone in depserate need of a laugh, ring along your earplugs and get your ass on down to the Punters Club next weekend!
Oh wow, I just read their webpage, they are from Hobart... I guess that would stand up as a defense in a court of law. |
