The Palace - Sunday 12th August 2001
What to say about Incubus? Coming close to being the best show I have ever seen, rivalling Faith No More and Fear Factory!! Actually, I think Incubus was better for me, in spite of being unable to get a really good view until nearly the end of the show. As you can see, I took my camera and got a few dodgy photos, the one below was taken through the glass on the upstairs level of The Palace.

Opening with Privilege, the set just got better and better for me. The crowd was nuts from beginning to end, but I was happy to see everyone went that little bit extra for some of my favorite songs, like Warmth.

Drive was an obvious highlight, and it was easy to see what drew the crowds and resulted in a sell out show so quickly, that song has just drawn so much attention to the band, and don't get me wrong, I love it, but to hear it played on Mix FM amongst groups like Destiny's Child, is a shame, but hey, if it brings them back to our shores again soon, I am glad!!

The little bit of Intergalactic thrown in briefly was a good touch, although I am not sure all that many people picked it, what with all the yelling and screaming for more :) I must admit I yelled myself hoarse for A Certain Shade of Green when it became clear they would close the encore with it, rather than open with it.

Brandon Boyd's diverse musical interests and abilities were expressed throughout the show, with the bongos (probably not a technical term for what he was actually playing, but bad luck), and I am pretty sure I heard the didgeridoo at some stage (while I couldn't actually see much of the stage). The whole musical break was fantastic, a great opportunity to fully realise the depth and breadth of Incubus' 10 year musical journey to stardom!!

Bring on the next album and the next tour, hope to see them back again in the early months of next year!!!
