| Canada is much more culturally, ethnically and religiously diverse than Denmark, and while the native languages in Denmark are Danish and Faroese, they are English and French in Canada. Our governments are both similarCanadas being a confederation with parliamentary democracy, and Denmarks being a constitutional monarchyin that we both have a queen as chief of state, a prime minister and a parliament. The age of suffrage in both countries is 18. Denmark seems to be more environmentally conscious, as many more people ride bikes (there are bike lanes on the roads), and there is a high tax on cars because of the environmental issues surrounding exhaust emissions. Canadian-Danish relations are warm and essentially problem free. Denmark values the transatlantic link and the importance of NATO, but has been recently concerned about Canada's involvement in the United States' plans for a National Missile Defense Systemmainly with northern Canada and Greenland being possible satellite communications hosts. Denmark is a much older country than Canada and has a longer history. | ||||||||||||||
