Plot to Destroy the Saiya-JinChapter 3Who Needs KakarrotAfter a quick flight, Kain landed to keep his power level undetected. He looked up at the sun. "Whew, it feels like I've been walking forever, but it looks like only 4 kaylars have past. Next time I'll park the ship closer to the action. Well, let's check to see where they are now." Kain pushed the button on his scouter. He found them quickly. "Wait, one is alone. Man, this is the perfect time to attack," he thought to himself. He quickly powered up and flew in the direction of the power reading. After an unsuccessful sweep of the area around Janin's ship, Vegeta powered down. "I may as well return to the Lookout. There's nothing more I can do here." Suddenly, Vegeta felt a strong ki to the south. He waited a few seconds to confirm the direction. "Well, looks like the pilot's coming back," Vegeta thought with a smile. "I don't want to keep him waiting." A blue glow appeared around his body and Vegeta shot up into the air. "I will beat this pilot and without any help from Kakarrot." About 20 minutes later as Vegeta was closing on South City, he saw an energy aura approaching him. He landed well away from the city and waited for his opponent. He didn't have to wait long. The streaking figure came to an abrupt halt and slowly descended to the ground. When he was a few feet above the ground, he stopped and hovered in the air. "Well, if it isn't Prince Vegeta," the stranger said mockingly. "And who are you," Vegeta shouted. Kain pointed to Vegeta. "I'm Kain, the greatest bounty hunter in the universe, and you, Vegeta, are my prey," he said. "Well, you seem pretty confident for a man who's going to die," Vegeta replied. "Well, I'd say the same thing about you. If you had a scouter, you'd know what you were up against," Kain replied. "If I were you, I would fight with my full strength." "I don't need a scouter to see how powerful you are, but I think you need to see what you're up against," Vegeta replied with a smirk. "Well, here it is." A golden glow formed around Vegeta's body as he transformed into a Super Saiya-Jin. Kain was surprised by the change in Vegeta, but kept it from showing on his face. "I thought only this Goku was a Super Saiya-Jin," he thought. "Looks like I'll find out what they're made of a little sooner than I expected." Out loud he taunted Vegeta. "Well, I guess a little challenge is better than none at all." Kain was amazed as he saw the power level rise on his scouter. "Can't believe what I'm seeing. That's impossible," Kain thought. As the numbers soared into the millions, he heard a cracking sound. He closed his eyes just before the scouter exploded. Kain took the useless device off his ear and threw it to the ground. "That was good, very good, Prince Vegeta. Now let me show you a little of my power." With a shout, Kain raised his power level until he had a blue aura surrounding his body. "This should be more than enough to kill you," he boasted. "Well, you're a little stronger than I thought," Vegeta said as he made his golden aura bigger. "Let's get this started." Vegeta suddenly disappeared, then reappeared in front of Kain. He quickly threw a punch to Kain's face, sending him flying backwards. Kain stopped himself and looked at Vegeta. Kain wiped the blood that dripped from his lip. "That was pretty good," he said as he put his arms in the air. "Now it's my turn. Let's see if you can handle this Death Blade." A large red blade formed above his arms. "Take this," Kain yelled as the blade flew at Vegeta. Vegeta quickly flew up out of the way, keeping his eyes on the beam. He watched as the blade cut through two mountains and came right back at him. As the blade made another pass at Vegeta, he moved quickly out of the way. "Well, let's see if we can make this more of a challenge for the prince of all Saiya-Jins," Kain said as he formed another blade and threw it at Vegeta. Vegeta quickly moved out of the way of the second blade. Kain raised his arms above his head and the two blades stopped in midair and turned around. Kain lowered his arms and the two blades flew at back at Vegeta. Vegeta watched as the two blades approached him. When they were within seconds of hitting him, he flew up and the two beams hit each other. The blades exploded on impact and burst into hundreds of little blades. Vegeta watched as the small energy beams hit the ground. Some reached the outskirts of South City and hit some nearby warehouses. The buildings burst into flames. "Looks like this fight is too close to the city," Vegeta thought to himself. He shouted to Kain, "I know a better location for our fight. If we stay here, someone might get in our way." Kain looked at the damage his blast had caused and knew it would draw unwanted attention. "Sure, that's fine with me," Kain said. "It's doesn't really matter where I kill you. And anyway I have nothing against those people. Lead the way." Vegeta set a quick pace as he flew north with Kain following behind him. "Man, what do you think that was, Krillin?" Gohan shouted as they ran to the warehouse district. "I don't know," Krillin replied, "but it didn't sound good." As they entered the street, Krillin and Gohan came to a sudden stop. "Look at that," Gohan said as they came to a huge warehouse building with a dozen broken windows. Black smoke was billowing out of the openings and the pair could see the flames inside. "There must have been a fight here," Sakura said as she caught up with her two new companions. "No, the fight wasn't here. It was outside the city," Gohan replied. "Hey, Krillin, do you sense that?" "Yup. It's Vegeta. He must be fighting one of the new arrivals," Krillin replied. "And by the looks of things, Vegeta just might win." "Listen, I know this guy Kain and he's strong. There's no way Vegeta can beat him," Sakura said. "But Vegeta's power level is three times higher and he's not even at his max," Krillin replied smuggly. "Just check your scouter." Sakura put the scouter on her ear and pressed the button. As she saw the power level rise on Vegeta, she quickly switched the focus to Kain. She frowned when she saw the reading. "This can't be right. Kain must be hiding his power level to trick Vegeta into thinking he can win." "I think Vegeta will be just fine," Gohan replied. "Well, I say we watch and see," Sakura replied. "After the way Kain treated me, I'll enjoy seeing someone wipe that smile off his face. I say we go watch." "I don't know. I mean we might get in his way," Gohan replied thoughtfully. "Come on. If Vegeta is as strong as you say he is then there's nothing to worry about," Sakura replied. "I don't know about you two guys but I'm going to watch." And with that, she flew off. "Do you think we should go, Krillin," Gohan asked. "Well, we are Vegeta's back-up. It wouldn't hurt to check out the action," Krillin replied. "And we can keep an eye out for her. I don't think she has a clue of what she getting into." "I don't know. She must have seen her fair share of fights. She's pretty strong herself," Gohan replied. "I'm not talking about the fight. I'm talking about Vegeta," Krillin answered. And with that, Gohan fell over Anime style. In the distance, Gohan and Krillin heard the sound of alarms as the local firefighters approached the scene. "Well, I think that's our signal to leave. Let's join Sakura then," Gohan said as he got up. Trunks threw another punch at Janin only to have him dodge it and punch him back. Trunks plunged to the ground, but managed to catch himself with his hands. He did a backward flip and landed on his feet. "Take this," Trunks shouted, flying at Janin again and throwing a punch at him. Janin caught Trunks' fist. "Give up, boy," Janin said. "I'm not interested in you. Just your father." "There's no way I'm giving up," Trunks replied as he kicked Janin in the stomach twice. Janin lost his hold on Trunks. Holding his stomach with one arm, Janin quickly scanned the area for Trunks. He heard a sound above him and looked up. In a second, Trunks's foot slammed into Janin's face sending the bounty hunter rapidly to the ground. Unable to stop himself, Janin hit the ground with a huge boom. The impact threw rocks and dirt everywhere. "Take this," Trunks said as he began to rapidly throw ki beams at Janin. The beams caused a big cloud of dust. "I'll make sure you won't hurt anyone. Gallic Gun," Trunks yelled as he shot a huge purple beam into the cloud of dust. When the dust cleared, Trunks saw Janin standing there perfectly fine. "That's impossible. Not even a scratch," Trunks said nervously. Janin snickered. "Is that the best you can do, kid, because if it is, you better give up now and go home." "Oh crap, Dad," Trunks thought. Trunks sensed his father. He knew his father was fighting a strong opponent. "He'll need my help. I have to finish this." Trunks assumed his fighting stance again and yelled, "This ends now." His golden aura began to glow brighter. Janin stood there confidently. "Well we'll see," he said. "Just shut up," Trunks yelled. "Who's going to make me," Janin replied sarcastically. "I am," Trunks yelled as he flew at Janin and punched him in the face. Janin fell to the ground, but he only remained there a moment. He stood up and wiped some blood off his face. Trunks threw another punch at Janin. Janin quickly moved out of the way. "Rrrrrrrrr, stand still," Trunks shouted as he threw another punch at Janin. Janin moved and replied by giving Trunks a kick in the stomach. Trunks fell to the ground holding his stomach. "Oh man, this guy's too much," Trunks said. Janin floated up into the air and moved to hover above Trunks. "I have a present for you," Janin said. Trunks rolled on to his back. He was still clutching his stomach and his vision was blurred by his pain. "Well let me give you mine first," Trunks said throwing a ki beam at Janin. Janin hit it away. "Well, here yours," Janin said as he rushed down to Trunks. Janin drove his foot into Trunks's chest, breaking two ribs. Trunks moaned in pain as Janin's foot continued to push down on his chest. Trunks grabbed Janin's foot and struggled to push it away, but Janin was too strong. Trunks heard another rib break and lost his hold on Janin. Janin moved his foot off Trunks and kicked the injured boy. "Looks like I won," he said and then he turned and walked off. Trunks moaned as he struggled to his feet. He was panting from the exertion but he managed to straighten himself as he faced his opponent. "Wait , we're not finished yet," Trunks said. His golden aura began to increase. "Man, this kid won't stay down. Looks like I'll have to do a little more convincing to make him stop," Janin said to himself as he began to power up more. "Dad, I hope you can hold the other one off until I get there," Trunks said to himself. "Come on. I don't have all day," Janin said. "Give me a minute. I want to fight you at my maximum," Trunks said as he continued to power up. "Sure, why not," Janin replied lazily. "It won't do you any good." "Well, why don't you check your scouter," Trunks said. "Then you'll know how strong I really am." Janin adjusted his scouter so it could handle the numbers. "Not bad," Janin replied as he looked at Trunks's power level, "but not good enough." "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, take this," Trunks yelled as he flew at Janin and punched him in the stomach twice. Janin coughed blood out of his mouth as Trunks continued to pummel him with his fists. Janin fell to the ground. Trunks floated above him and yelled "Final Flash". "I can't stop it. It's too close," Janin yelled as the golden beam hit him. After the beam exploded, there was a big cloud of dust. Trunks hung in the air panting. The sweat was dripping down his face from his exertions and the pain in his chest made it feel like it was on fire. "Man, I'm glad that's over," Trunks said. A voice from the dust cloud said, "Think again, kid." As the dust cleared, Trunks saw Janin standing there. He was dirty but other than that, he looked unharmed. "What!! Not even a scratch," Trunks said worriedly. "Man, what the heck is this guy made of." "Well, I guess it's my turn," Janin said. "Blue Dragon Breath." Janin opened his mouth and a blue beam came out. "What the heck is that," Trunks shouted as the mouth beam flew at him. Trunks quickly put his arms in front of his face. The beam hit Trunks in the chest, sending a shock of pain through his body and knocking the breath out of him. Trunks fell to the ground. "Well, if I'm done here, I have some people I have to kill, kid" Janin said. "No, you won't. I won't let you. I won't," Trunks said trying to stand. "Kid, this fight is over," Janin said. "You know and I know it. There's no way you can beat me so just give up." "I'll never give up," Trunks yelled angrily. "I won't let you hurt them. I'll never let you win. NEVER!!!!" Trunks put his hands in front of him and yelled "Final Flash". "Damn you, brat" Janin yelled as the huge beam flew at him. Janin caught the beam and sent it into the air. "Darn it. I have no more energy to fight back," Trunks said as he collapsed on his knees. The golden glow disappeared from around his body. His hair fell back into place as it returned to its normal violet color. "Well, you put up a good fight, but I think you're finished now," Janin said as he walked off to his car. "You should be glad I'm in such a good mood, otherwise I'd finish you." Trunks opened his mouth but he couldn't seem to get any words to come out. He watched Janin drive off. Trunks struggled to his feet. The pain in his chest made it hard for him to breath. He rapped his arms around his chest to try to support his broken ribs. Trunks let out a moan and fell flat on the ground. His vision began to blur. "Dad, Goku, Gohan, where are you? I need help," he gasped. With those words, Trunks's eyes closed and he lost consciousness. Back at the Lookout, Goku, Goten and Dende sensed Trunks's power level drop after his battle. "Oh no, Trunks," Goten shouted looking at his dad. "Dad, is he dead?" he asked anxiously. "No, but his power level is way down," Goku replied seriously. "He must be pretty messed up. And whoever did this to him must be very strong, stronger then we sensed from his power level. I'll go get Trunks and bring him here. Don't worry, Goten. Dende will heal Trunks. Right Dende?" "Right," Dende replied. And with that Goku put up his right hand, stuck his first two fingers in front of his forehead and vanished. Goten looked off the edge of the Lookout toward Earth. From this height, the ground below was just patches of green and brown separated by the gray stripes of roads and highways. The houses and people were too small to see. "Hang on Trunks," Goten said softly." "My dad will be there soon. I hope you're okay." Chapter Four Preview: "Hey, Goku here.
