STRATEGY

Our world is undergoing significant changes.  Driven by technology, postmodern thinking, and the universal use of English, there is a transnational culture that is emerging around the world.  Increasingly, people see themselves as “citizens of the world,” and because of the common ground of the Emerging Culture, global interaction and relationships are possible as never before.  As the lines between people’s national identity and their global identity blur, there are implications for how we contextualize the gospel.

Could it be that in the Emerging Culture there is a new “highway” for the gospel?

Unfortunately, the evangelical church has little influence in the Emerging Culture. To most of these people, the church is viewed as an irrelevant and passé institution.  Although there is great interest in spiritual matters in the Emerging Culture, most have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel message in terms they can relate to, nor have they had the opportunity to see the gospel being lived out in a vibrant community of believers.

Could it be that new forms of Christian expression and community are needed to reach the world of the future?

Europe is at the forefront of the Emerging Culture philosophically, socially, artistically, and politically.  To a large degree, as goes Europe, so goes the world. Unfortunately, in the cities of Europe, less than 5% of the population attends church regularly, and church attendance remains in rapid decline all across Europe, particularly among young people.  Despite that, many Europeans, including the young, remain open to exploring the teachings of Christ, but they want a different experience than what the traditional church has offered.

Could it be that Europe is a strategic “laboratory” for innovation in the church?

Christian Associates International believes that the answer to the three questions above is “Yes!”  CAI is focused on reaching into the emerging culture of Europe with the life-changing message of the gospel through the multiplication of high-impact leaders and high-impact churches.  Our desire is not to simply plant churches, but to plant church-planting movements – churches that will plant churches that will plant churches.  Grassroots… real… spiritually vital… grace oriented… relational… biblically based… empowering… self-reproducing.
