"I got a plan."
Chet Mason

Andrew, Kate, Chet, John, Matthew, Bobby and Chantal are trapped in the Lazarus safehouse with the Orphan Grinder Aristotle de Laurent and the enigmatic Mister Jigsaw with them. Outside, in a frantic journey to the Buddhist temple near the two towers, Shep, Quietly, Micheals, and the gathered spooks of their own crucible, evade both spectral hunters and the unknowning living hindrances. With the Shadow Storm coming to its activity, the two groups are forced to defend the sanctuaries they have found from the specters' attempts to gather them like wheat.

Using the safehouse's ichor-fused composition to their advantage, as well as the flexibility of benefits and Matthew Alcome's ability to serve as a nexus for others to combine benefits, the crucible take down hordes of the Fetches and Lost boys that struggle to penetrate the base. But when a costly mistake of Andrew's to use a Beckoned grenade to strike down the Jasons beating down on the door actually causes the door itself to breach open, the crucible retreat deeper into the safehouse in hopes of finding a better means of escape. Andrew alone, however, perceives the multitude of complications that were happening in the background.

"Okay, who of your people can do the Banshee thing?"
Shep Remington

In the temple, Shep coordinates the spooks of Michaels and Quietly to using the Crucible horror born from Wail to great effect. Though they successfully force back the first waves of Spectres that attempt to reach them, Shep realises the trouble simply grows more complicated when even the living begin to wonder what is going on. Forced to find a new sanctuary to hide in, the spooks leave and travel through the city that grows more and more dangerous each passing minute.

But when Shep realises a Spectre as attempting to follow them to the new hiding place, he opts to delay the Spectre and buy the others time... by being left behind.
