During the summer of 1995, these three women went to Nigeria, West Africa to begin shaping what would soon become one of the most progressive sisterhoods for women of African descent.
Upon their return to the U.S., the the three conceptualizers recruited 9 other women to embark upon the journey to the flame. These women are founders Nsini Udo, Nedra Williams, Tamiko Bell, Jessica Lynch, Wendy Guzman, Yolanda Beaton, Tanya Belgrave, Shirelle Duncan, and Julie Ortiz. These twelve women went on to become the distinguished founders of Malika Kambe Umfazi Sorority Inc.
Malika Kambe Umfazi was incorporated November 18th, 1995 by the State of New York and since then has enjoyed an exciting, promising, and�inspiring introduction into the fraternal and sororal world.� Although Malika is relatively new, we are striving to become a driving force on campuses across the nation and in the community.
