| Hi! I cannot believe how fast time is going! Tomorrow is Chelseys last day here. We have been really busy doing things. We went to Teotihuacan on Wednesday and it was really nice. We climbed the pyramid of the sol and saw those maguey plants, these huge plants from which they make pulchre, an ancient Mexican drink that gets people really drunk. The trip over was interesting; we had to take a bus to Mexico City, then walk to the metro, then take the metro twice to get to a market from which we could take a bus to Teotihuacan. I was really suprised! I was thinking wed just take another bus once we arrived in D.F. (Mexico City). Anyhow, I was really proud of us because using the subway system, especially in Mexico City, can be very complicated. My house mother said that even she doesnt like to use it because it is hard. Once I was explained the process by someone, I thought that it was very easy to use. Plus, its cheap. It costs the equivalent of $.25 to use, which is even less than the buses. And, in the metro, you just stay in the subways until you reach your destination, and you can switch metros if you need. On a bus, you have to pay again if you need to switch. Plus, they are a lot faster since they dont have to deal with traffic and all. Im really liking this metro deal. Anyhow, yesterday we went to Tasco with Delphine. Let me just say, anyone who comes to this area is required to visit Tasco. It is beautiful. It is an hour and a half bus ride away and is a city built on top of like, 2 mountains. The style of the entire town is different from the rest of Mexico; Ive been told that it resembles Spain. Anyhow, we took photos and I will post some up (I promise) soon. Plus, Tasco is known for its silver- people go there to buy silver objects cheap. Chelsey and Delphine were all complaining about how they spent way too much money on jewelry and stuff. It is definitely easy to do! I am not really a fan of jewelry and if anything, looking at all those stores and things to choose from just confused me! I bought a few things, though, and was really happy with the prices. Last night we went to Zumbale, the Salsa club here, and I think Chelsey really liked that. I didnt dance too much- I did a couple of times and my partners couldnt really dance. I think that is annoying. Anyhow, I ran into, well, actually, Edgar came up to me and I talked to him for a little while, we danced, and then left to go talk some more. I was kind of glad because I wanted Chelsey to dance but I didnt really feel like staying down there. I didnt want to go sit alone, so I just talked to him for a while. Another thing- talking in clubs is hopeless, and even more hopeless when you are speaking a foreign language. It is so hard to hear, and I always feel like the biggest idiot when I am talking to Edgar or anyone else for that matter, in the club. Well, I think I am going to get going. This is the last day and it is full. We are going to Coatetelco (I love that place!) for dinner, and then to Los Arcos, the restaurant with live music and Salsa on Friday nights. We might try to ride horses in Coatetelco today because I wanted to last week, and I think all three of us (Chels, Delphine, and I) trying to ride horses would make for some hilarious photos. Anyway, no promises, but I will see about writing tomorrow. Have a good one! |
