next day's entry
Well, Chelsey left this morning at arond 4:45 a.m. Her flight was really early, and she had to be in Mexico City for it. So, she packed last night, and I called a taxi for her to the bus station in Cuernavaca. The taxi came and took her to the bus station, and immediately after they left, I got nervous. I started thinking, "Oh my Gosh! Why didnt I go with her?!" I should have gone with her to the bus station. She didnt think she was going to have problems but I started thinking about how she was alone in a taxi with some man at 4:45 a.m. and how she didnt speak Spanish fluently and how she didnt know what the station she was going to looked like, and isnt familiar with Cuernavaca to know if theyre going the right way. What if he took her somewhere else!? I have been so worried! She said she would call when she got to Atlanta, which I assumed would be by 11:30, but I hadnt heard from her yet when I left the house this morning. Im sure there are no problems, but we will see. The funny thing is that I wouldnt have minded going to the bus station with her, but it just didnt cross my mind. I didnt think anything about her getting in the taxi alone until after she had gone.
Our last day yesterday was really nice. We went to the places I mentioned yesterday and I think she and Delphine liked it. We got to Coatetelco a little late, so it was light out when we arrived but got dark while we were eating. That was really pretty. It was the first time I had been there at night and I got to see the lake with the mountains arond it and all the lights on the mountain coming on. Of course, the fish was good, as usual.
So, the newest thing going on is that I am trying to go home for spring break. The whole Cuba thing didnt work out, which is fine with me, because I could save the money. Plus, its more expensive this time of year, meaning the Semana Santa here in Mexico. So, the next plans were to go with some people to southern Mexico, Chiapas. It is supposed to be really nice. Well, the thing is, I dont like traveling and doing things with big groups, and especially not with some of the people who were going. They are all nice people, but I just am not really interested in going with them. Besides, Kahuna made a good point yesterday. He said that Semana Santa is the absolute worst time to travel in Mexico, yet, its when all the students are trying to travel. For those who dont know, Semana Santa starts the 21st and it is like a national vacation week in Mexico, so everyone is traveling. This is why the prices for Cuba were a bit higher. Well, Kahuna said that someone told him that if you havent got your hotels booked, you can forget it- you werent going to find anywhere while youre traveling and besides that, the prices are a lot higher, too, so youre paying more for more crowded hotels, restaurants, and highways. I can forsee a lot of camping out and I am not interested in that. He is planning on just staying here and taking day trips, which I think is a great idea. Already have the house to stay in and food and all.
My thing is that I need to get my hair done. Yes, I know, that is a ridiculous reason to buy a plane ticket home. But not really. I get my hair relaxed and I dont think too many people do that here. I could probably find someone, but Id almost rather go home that do the hassle of looking. Then, Id have to make sure they knew what they were doing and I cant risk all of that. Plus, it would be great to get out of this increasingly hot weather and go to NC for a while. I could see my family and Charles and just do whatever for a few days. This all depends on the plane ticket deals that I find.  I am looking right now and am not quite as pleased as I want to be. I will keep everyone informed of what happens.
