| Another weekend is here. Its hard to beleive how fast time flies. I cant beleive that its already March. I was just talking about the fact that it was almost February. In honor of March (I guess) it has been very windy today. I dont know if all that applies to Mexico, too, but I just thought that it was strange. Dust and leaves are flying everywhere, but it kind of helps with the heat. Well, our second parcials are coming up, so I need to start getting ready for them. I dont know if I explained it already, but here we have 3 parcials, basically, sections of time. At the end of each partial, you have an exam. All of your grades from that particular partial are averaged together with the exam to give you your grade for the parcial. Then, at the end, they average the three together, along with your final exam grade, to give you your final average. Next week starts exams for the second partial. I am not really looking forward to it, but Im not dreading them as much, either, since now I kind of know what to expect. Still, I have a lot of reading to catch up on, especially for literature, and a paper to write for literature. It would be so nice to finish everything this weekend. Wishful thinking.... So, last night was pretty cool. I decided to go ahead and skip Lucha Libre, well actually, nobody went. A lot of people were going to a party that the university had. I really didnt want to go because we had to pay for it, and besides that, I was pretty sure I was just going to go with Ignacio to his thing. So, at 7 I had to come to school to watch this movie for my literature class, and after that was over, I ran home really quick, ate, changed clothes, and got a taxi to meet Ignacio downtown at 10. His cousin came, and come to find out, it was actually a party for Morelos State University at this club, Kaova. Ignacios cousin goes to Morelos State, which was funny because I was telling him that my friend, Sanatiel, goes there too and that I had just been there the day before. Anyhow, we went, and it turned out that there were not enough people with the tickets for this particular function, so they werent having it. I dont think anyone was too disappointed; Ignacio doesnt really like clubs, anyway, and neither do I, especially not if its techno music and I think thats what I heard. So, we ended up just walking around Cuernavaca for the next 3 and a half hours. We went to different places, like, tried to get into Zumbale, the Salsa Club, but couldnt because Ignacio didnt have his ID. The funny thing about here is that if youre American, you automatically get into the clubs almost everytime. Its a little more difficult for guys, but still, theyre pretty much guaranteed. However, if youre Mexican, they reserve the right to turn you down, and definitely will if youre lacking an ID. Its so wrong. Anyhow, we kept walking. We came to this really tacky looking type club place and I wanted to go in because I had been seeing it and wondering about it. We did, and it was so hilariously tacky. There was red all over and it looked like really cheap decorations for a Valentines party in someones living room, as if the people had spent major time on tacky decorations. Hard to explain; youve gotta see it in person. There was hardly anyone in there, except for a few people in their late 40s/ 50s. The music wasnt bad- there was a live band but no bandstand. They were just standing on the floor. We left because you couldnt stay if you didnt order drinks, and we didnt want to. We ate tacos at this place and they were pretty good. I think I had more fun just walking around, going places, than I would have if we had gone to this party. Anyhow, Ill probably stay home tonight, unless somebody wants to go somewhere. Charles is supposed to call me tonight at 6, so I am looking forward to that. Honestly, if I go somewhere, I want it to be before 9 because I am DONE with paying for taxis. I hate how the buses stop running at 7. I had to pay 2.50 just to go home from our class movie last night. Its getting really expensive, the transportation around here, and Im not sure how to solve it. I dont even go out much. Im going to have to seriously think about what to do becaus these taxis are eating my money alive! Anyhow, Ill write again either tomorrow, or Sunday, or Monday! Have a good one! |
