| Well, my weekend was, for the most part, uneventful. On Friday night, I waited around for Charles to call. He did, but it was right before dinner, so I told him to call again on Saturday. On Saturday, I went with my friend from France, Sandrine, to El Centro, which means "downtown." We had a good time. We sat and had drinks at this restaurant and walked around looking at various things. She got some pants from a department-type store and we also visited this outside market. I was so excited about the prices at the clothing stores. Theyre awesome!!! I loved it! Too bad I dont have extra money! Before I leave though, and provided that I win the lottery or something, I think I am going to get a few outfits. Charles and I talked on Saturday night, and on Sunday I just stayed around the house and did homework. Pretty boring, I know. Today, in my Communications class, we watched a really good movie. It is called "Amorres Perros." It was nominated for best foreign film and lost to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Anyhow, I definitely recommend it. It is sooo good! It had a lot of slang-type language, so was a bit hard to follow, but I understood the majority of it along with the explanations from my teacher. A girl made a good point when she said that you know its a good movie when you continue to have interest in it even when you dont know half of what theyre saying. Im sure they have it in subtitles in the US. I definitely recommend it. Oh- another development over the weekend. Okay. I killed 4 spiders this weekend in my room. Two of them were quite big. If nothing else will drive me out of Mexico, a spider will, and I mean fast. I hate spiders. They scare me. Im telling you, the minute I find one in my bed, Im going to lose it. This morning I killed one and I thought that it was another one that I had already killed. I went to scoop it up and throw it away and it moved! I screamed! That is the most awful thing, when you think that a spider is dead and it is alive. Ugh. On Saturday night I saw the first one. It was at the edge of my closet. This is really pitiful, but I picked up a shoe and was scared to kill it. I sat there staring at it and occasionally changing positions to kill it for not 15, not 30, not 45 minutes, but an HOUR. This is ridiculous. I am so afraid to hit the stupid things. Finally, I was getting sleepy (it was 2 a.m. when I saw it and 3 a.m. when I finally killed it). Seriously, I had just put on a CD and by the time I killed the spider it was on song number 17. Then, the worse thing was when I killed it, went to the bathroom, and looked underneath the shoe, it was gone! Dont you hate that!? I later saw it in my closet all curled up and hurt, and I knew it was dead, but then the next morning, it was gone again! I cant deal with this. I am going to have to buy some bug spray and some traps or something with insecticide in it. Now, everytime I go to reach for something, I am afraid. I shake out all my clothes and socks. I do have a little good news. I am slowly learning to kill them faster. This morning, it only took me 3 minutes to kill the spider! Anyone have any advice? Somebody tell me something, because I am not going to be able to sleep and so forth if Im constantly worried about spiders in my room. |
