| Hi! Not too much to write about today. Just a lot of everyday life things going on. School started back up for me today. I completely didnt want to go. I have a paper due tomorrow that I should be working on, but instead, it seems that I can find a million things that I "have" to do on the internet. My friends and I all talk about that here- how we can go to the computer lab and accidentally stay for hours, realizing when we leave that weve done nothing but waste our times looking at strange, pointless material. Anyhow, I had an adventure yesterday when I tried to find the doctor. First, I took the Ruta. Actually, let me start with my trip to immigrations. You know I had to go to immigrations again yesterday morning, right? We left at 9 a.m. and got there at around 9:15. We waited in line for about 1 hour. Actually, we were just waiting for someone to tell us when we could go in for my interview. Finally, they let us go, and when we get in there, the lady tells us that we have to have an appointment! This was strange because they had told Jessica to just come in for an appointment. Anyhow, we had to wait again for that and that took about 30 minutes of waiting. I asked Jessica what we were waiting for because all we had to do was get an appointment. She said that they had to have in in writing, when our appointment was, and they were using a typewriter. Well, turns out that no one was writing it anyway, and when one of the counter people came up to us and asked what we were waiting on and Jessica told them, they went to go find my documents and said that they were lost! So, basically, what has happened is that my papers got mixed up somewhere and they cannot find them. Luckily, I didnt bring my copy with me, so they said that they would just get back with us and let us know when my appointment is! Ha!!!! How much do you want to guess that well never hear from them again!? This is probably what will happen because a man who was from another college in Cuernavaca was talking to Jessica and said that he used to lose his VISAs all of the time and all he did was go to the airport. Jessica was replying by telling him that she knew, but that the school could get into trouble if immigrations found out. I understand and agree, however, just like this man was saying, we all know that immigrations could care less about us or our VISAs. Anyhow, hopefully, this is the end of all of this. Jessica said that we did the right thing and that maybe I just got lucky! Now that Im completely off subject, Ill tell about my bus trip yesterday. Got lost again. This guy was trying to help me, and got me even more mixed up. I ended up riding way, way out of my way and ending up in a really rural town with cows in the street and the most awful, bumpy roads ever. Not only that, but the bus driver had said that hed tell me when to get off. So, Im riding, and finally everyone gets off the bus and we pull into a bus lot. The driver cuts off the bus and turns around, looking at me and shaking his head. I was furious! I was like, "why are you shaking your head at ME!!?" You said you were going to tell me when to get off of the bus!" Im sure it was funny because all of this was in broken Spanish, of course. This other bus driver was laughing. He told me that he had forgotten and that I was supposed to get off like 40 minutes ago. Not that it mattered in the end because that was also the wrong place. Anyhow, I took a taxi and finally got to the doctors office. I was late, but he saw me anyway. I hated that I was late, but at least now I know how to get there. The day actually ended up really nice, though. I went shopping in the mercado and bought 2 CDs. One is of Joan Sebastian. Anyone know him? Popular ranchero singer here in Mexico. I am in love with his song "El Secreto de Amor." Youve got to hear it if you havent. Anyhow, I paid $1.50 for the CD! Is that not wild!? Of course its pirated, but thats what they sell all over the place here. You actually have to go out of your way to buy an official CD. So, basically, thats all thats going on here. Im going home so I can write this paper! |
