An eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks. The eagle will fly to the highest place it can find and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. The eagle does not escape the storm, instead while the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.
The eagle has no mind of it's own, it only knows to do what God created it to do; to follow the instinct that God created in it. It uses the storm to lift it higher. The eagle follows it's God given instinct and simply rises on the winds that bring the storm.
There are times in all of our lives when the storms will rage. However, we too can be like the eagle and use the storm to our advantage. First we must look for a higher place to go. If we look toward God, we will see that the only way to get higher up is to love and serve Him as He created us to do.
Although, unlike the eagle, man does have a mind of his own and does not always do that which God created us to do. So we must learn to follow that instinct that God also gave us, and trust in Him. If we do, He will not let us perish in the storm but will lift us high so that we can rise above it and soar like the eagles. |
