| July 12, 2007 - continued.... So anyway, after the ultrasound, the lab technician tells us that there is only one artery instead of two in the umbilical cord and that we need to have a consult with the doctor to discuss the results. Of course I began to freak out. I researched on the internet and all I could find were medical articles regarding all the complications that are possible - heart problems, urinary tract problems, neurological problems, skeletal problems, on and on. I had to go back to work and of course was so upset that I didn't get much done. When I got home I researched more (which I probably shouldn't have done to begin with, but oh well). I found a site where other people who had SUA (single umbilical artery) posted. It appears that it is quite common, about 1 in a 100 pregnancies and most have no complications at all. The most often seen problems are low birth weight (growth stops) or kidney probems. After that I felt a little better. Today we had the consult with the doctor and now I feel a ton better. He confirmed that it is quite common - he sees about four cases a month. He said that all the testing was normal and that Logan looks great. All his systems are good and there shouldn't be anything to worry about. He did recommend close monitoring and extra ultrasounds to confirm that Logan continues to grow. (Since he grew more than expected last time, I think he'll be just fine!!) Anyways, he has been quite active the last couple weeks and loves to kick me in the bladder. He is definetly earning the nick name "Mommy's little wiggleworm"!!! Here are pictures from yesterdays ultrasound. The top is his little foot, and the bottem is his head and chest. He didn't feel like smiling for the camera this time!! No progress on the baby's room yet. Hopefully this weekend. | July 18, 2007 - as promised, here is a current picture of me taken today. See my big belly! There is a wiggleworm in there! Things are going good. Although I must admit I feel a little silly talking to my belly all the time, or singing to it. (At least you can't say I'm singing to myself anymore!) | July 31, 2007 - Nothing big to report, unless you count Logan's kicking! Man is my little boy getting strong! He will often send me into a little giggle. I love the feeling, unless it's 4 a.m. and I'm trying to sleep!! I did make him a toy box this past weekend! Check out his room page for pictures. I ended up with some battle scars - I burned myself pretty good with the hot glue gun. Oh well, anything for my little boy!! My next doctors appointment is Monday, August 6th. I have to go for the dreaded gestational diabetes test. Hopefully all goes well. My next ultrasound isn't until after Labor day. | August 8, 2007 - Okay, I have baby brain. I said my appointment was on the 6th, but I was wrong, it was today. All is good - Logan's heartbeat was right where it should be. He's been very active. He kicked me so hard the other day it sent my hand flying!! I've gained a total of 14 pounds. At left is a picture taken yesterday - 26 weeks! One more week and I'll be in the third trimester! It's going by so fast. Yipee - we can't wait to meet the little guy! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| August 15, 2007 - Found out I failed the first gestational diabetes test. That means I have to go in for a three hour test! Yikes. Doesn't sound like much fun at all....I'm gonna go Saturday morning I think. | |

| August 18, 2007 - Well I went for the test this morning. I checked in at 7:25 a.m.!! It wasn't all that bad because I pretty much had the waiting room to myself and could watch whatever I wanted. Although I was not happy about having blood drawn four different times!! But I made it. Hopefully it comes back negative!! If not I guess I better get used to pricking my finger a lot and paying extra close attention to my diet!! As long as I do that, there shouldn't be any problems with the little guy! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| August 19, 2007 - We've been trying to get things ready for when Logan gets here. The only problem is my energy seems to be dwindling. When I'm working - I have no energy when I get home. That means I have to use my weekends to their full potential. That doesn't always happen because that is really the only time Rob and I have together and we don't always want to be working around the house. Oh well, I guess if stuff doesn't get done, Logan probably won't know any better!! Speaking of Logan, he has been getting stronger and stronger. I got a good swift kick in the ribs yesterday - the strongest yet. I love it when he moves!! Even if it is a little painful once in while or keeps me up....I love this little boy!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
