Ashley Quinn Davidson Barton is our oldest child, and she takes that job seriously. She is old beyond her years - very wise for 15. (Ashley just celebrated her 15th birthday - to read her own account of her evening, complete with pictures, Click HERE). She always strives to set a good example. She is the peron who will correct someone for a bad mouth, will correct people in school for playing around "during work time". She is the person in the family that if you need to know ANYTHING from how to spell a word, to its meaning, to the chemical compound chart, to needing to know the name of different universes - Ashley is the one to ask. Ashley is very unique, yet has an innocence of personality that is astonishing. She knows the bad things of the world but CHOOSES not to be the typical teenager and experience them. She also had a kindness and a calmness to her soul that astounds me. She definitely has different ways to think "outside the box". There is no grey area with Ashley, it's right or wrong, black or white.
Ashley also has Aspergers Syndrome. It is a form of Autism, considered to be a "learning disability" but when the child ranks #6 in a class of 250 students -I would love that disability. We've never medicated her - her success is all due to hard work on Ashley's part. She has participated in the Special Olympics of Kansas City for the past 5 years, and gotten medals in all the sports she's participated in (quite a collection). Ashley is rare in yet another way; children with Aspergers/Autism 90% are boys - only 10% are girls. Donovan Mitchell is going into 7th grade & loves everything about games. He has discovered the girls, and he's quite popular with all of them. It never seems to fail: he either has girls chasing him, or he's got a crush on another one. He's the oldest of the boys. He tries his best to be a good big brother, but arguments sometimes happen still. One of the funniest things Donnie has ever said was.. once, when he was about 8, he felt a hot pain, and he claimed it was burning him down to his UTERUS! If you ever get a chance, ask him about it!

Audrey Lynn is the youngest daughter, our middle child. Shes's getting ready to go into the 5th grade. She's quite the little girly girl - she likes all things pink and frilly. Of all five kids, I'd say she's the biggest handful. She's extremely independent and is VERY opinionated. She's also one of those people who stands up for anyone who is getting made fun of, or being bullied - regardless of the opinions of other people, she always stands up for the underdog. She's very much like a butterfly: full of energy, jumping from one thing to the next, just trying to enjoy all of life at once.

Cory Allen is getting ready to go into the 3rd grade. He's our gentle boy. Don't get me wrong - he gets in arguments just like all other normal kids... but he is usually the one who never states "I want! I want!" He's happy with just being. He is always wanting to make everyone happy, and always wears a smile. He has the cutest dimples, and he has a wonderful personality. Just like in "Finding Nemo", I'm Dori, and he's my "Squishy".

Nicholas Randall is getting ready to go into 1st grade. He's my curly top, and he loves to cuddle. If there's an argument, Niki's usually involved in some way. Being the baby of the family, he's still learning a lot of "I can do this by myself." and "I can do that by myself." He's always sooooo proud when he does it, but he does get very upset when he tries something and its not absolutely perfect. He loves to suceed. He loves to try to sneak snacks late at night, to smuggle them in to his brothers' and sisters' rooms, so they don't do without... even though he knows they're supposed to be going to sleep.

Dori's big hobby is knitting. Here's a picture of a blanket she knitted for Matt, for his birthday. If you want something knitted, notify her, and she might be able to accommodate!
