| 1990 Peter Sellars film
Peter Sellers set his innovative updated version of the opera in the Trump Tower with the Count a Trump-like rich man and Cherubino macho in an American football uniform. It works well most of the time and there are many enjoyable references to vintage film comedy.(Review of Marriage of Figaro) |

| In recent years, Sellars has turned to opera. His production of John Adams' Nixon in China for the Houston Grand Opera was broadcast nationally on PBS, and The Death of Klinghoffer, his second collaboration with Adams and choreographer Mark Morris, is part of the San Francisco Opera's current season. Last summer, Sellars directed Olivier Messaien's opera Saint Francois d'Assise at the Salzburg Festival (Source) |

| In Peter Sellars's production for Santa Fe Opera the entire stage was covered with a few inches of water. Circular staircases that were sometimes brightly lit with blues and greens for Europe and reds and oranges for North Africa graced either side of the proscenium and a small boat transported the pilgrim, mezzo, Monica Groop, and later Gerald Finley as Jaufr, from one side to the other. The chorus was placed just beyond the sides of the stage, men on Jaufr's side and women on the same side as Clmence, the countess Review |
