Mittie Young (1895-1978), my grandmother,  was the first of  eleven children born to Robert Gilmore Young and Willis McKinley Tarter.  Robert was born October 10, 1866 Clinton Co., KY  and died January 14, 1943 Pulaski Co., KY. Willis was born December 7,  1873 and died January 28, 1947. She was the daughter of Willis C. Tarter  and Serena "Rennie" Fry.  Robert and Willis are buried in the Weddle Cemetery on the Gerald Roberts Farm, Faubush, KY.

Robert Young and Willis Tarter  were married 1894.

Robert was the son of Burdine Young.  Burdine was  born  March 2, 1844 in either Fentress Co., TN, Clinton or Wayne Co., KY. This area is considered the Walker Line area where the state boundary remained under dispute for many years.

Burdine served in the Union Army during the Civil War with  CO. K 30th KY INF and CO. M 2nd KY CAV.  He died October 10, 1930.  Burdine married three times and had children as follows:
