OBITUARY - ISAAC ADKINS WYNN

Isaac Adkins Wynn was born April 16, 1855 in Perry County, Illinois and
departed this life February 16, 1937 at his home in Metcalf, Illinois, age 81
years and 10 months.  He was united in marriage to Mary Rebecca Lewis in
1881.  To this union ten children were born.  He leaves to morn his loss his
wife and children:  Bertha Ella Norris, Metcalf, Illinois; Marley Benton,
Tamaroa, Illinois; Samuel, Grover, Fred and Atha Smith, Metcalf, Illinois;
Everett, Sidel, Illinois; one child died in infancy; one brother, at Coulterville,
Illinois; one sister in Kansas; 35 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a
host of friends.  He was converted and united with the Nazarene Church in
November, 13 years ago, and remained faithful to the end.

A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we love is still;
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled,
Friends may think the world is healed,
But little do they know the sorrow
That lies within our hearts concealed.

OBITUARY - MARION T. NORRIS

Metcalf -(CNS) - Marion Thomas Norris, 64, former grade school janitor for 16 years, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elsie Gresham, here.  He suffered a heart attack, following an illness of several years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (CST) in the Metcalf Nazarene Church, with the Rev. C.E. Fritch, Paris, officiating.  burial will be in Young America Cemetery at Hume, with the Scott Funeral Home, Chrisman, in charge.  The body will be taken to the residence Wednesday morning.

Mr. Norris was born Sept. 13, 1885, at Dubois, son of William and Susan Harris Norris.  He was married June 30, 1907, to Bertha Wynn in Perry County, and she died Nov. 25, 1944.  He lived in Edgar County 30 years, and was a member of the nazarene Church.

Surviving are two children, Orville, of Hutchinson, Kansas and Mrs. Elsie Gresham, of Metcalf; two brothers Clarence and John and a sister, Mrs. Florence Hodge, DuQuoin, and three grandchildren.  One child preceded him in death.

OBITUARY - ATHA LOWELL SMITH

Mrs. Atha Lowell Smith, 53 years old, wife of Daniel Smith, died at 8:15 o'clock, Sunday evening (Nov. 18) in her home at Metcalf after a seven month illness.

She was born in Perry County, Ill, on Sept., 24, 1898, the daughter of Isaac and Rebecca Wynn and had resided in Edgar County for 30 years.  Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Edith Rose of Metcalf; a son, Dallas Smith of Metcalf; a foster daughter, Ruby Johnson, at home; four brothers, Grover and Fred Wynn of Mishawaka, Ind., Sam Wynn of Tolono, Ill and Everett Wynn of Sidell; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Foster of Marion, Ill and Zelma Moore of St. John, Ill and five grandchildren.  The deceased was a member of the Metcalf Christian Church.

The body was removed Monday evening from the Honnold Funeral Home in Chrisman to the residence.  Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Metcalf Christian Church.  The REv. M.H. Wright, Church Pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in the Hoult Cemetery, south of Chrisman.

OBITUARY - ATHA LOWELL SMITH

Funeral services for Mrs. Atha Lowell Smith, wife of Daniel Smith, who died November 18th in her home at Metcalf, were held on Wednesday afternoon of last week in the Metcalf Christian Church.  Burial was in the Hoult Cemetery south of Chrisman.

Pallbearers were Artie Bowman, Bernard Downey, Chester Meyers, Orville Porter, James Porter and Terrence Porter.

Relatives attending the funeral services were Virgil and Gorman Wynn, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth George of Tamaroa, and Mrs. Pruda Wynn all of Tamaroa, Ill; Mrs. and Mrs. Fred Wynn, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Wynn and family, Mrs. Marjorie Caskany, and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Yates and family all of Mishawaka, Ind.; Louie Mumbowner of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Michel and Mrs. and Mrs. Samuel Wynn, Sr., and daughters of Tolono; Mrs. Velma Lynch of Nashville,; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Weatherly and Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Smith of Hillsdale, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. James Moore; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, all of Dana, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wynn of Sidell; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Smith and daughters of Chrisman, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Smith and daughter from north of Metcalf.

OBITUARY - DANIEL D. SMITH

Daniel D. Smith        Passes Away.  Final Rites Held At Metcalf Saturday Afternoon.

Daniel D. Smith, 69, of Metcalf, died at 10:10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, 1971 a the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, where he had been a patient three weeks.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Metcalf Christian Church with Rev. Richard Bosecker of Harrisburg, Ind., and Rev. James Tingle, Metcalf, officiating.  Mrs. Joetta Snyder was pianist and accompanist for Wallace and Faith Pennington, who sang, :When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder", and :Beyond The Sunset."  Pall Bearers were Virgil Veach, Paul Preston, Ira Boyer, Sam Overton, Marion Pennington, and Ernie Gilkerson.  Burial was in the Hoult Cemetery, south of Chrisman.  Visitation was held Friday afternoon and evening at the Honnold FUneral Home in Chrisman.

Mr. Smith was born June 23, 1902, in Odon, Ind., the son of Edward and Sarah Catherine Aisha Smith.  He was receded in death by his first wife.  In 1952, he was married to the former Mardelle Ross, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Dallas, of Metcalf; a daughter, Mrs. Edith Rose, Georgetown; a step-daughter, Mrs. Becky Ellis of Clinton, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph of Metcalf, Russell of Paris, and Virgil of California; and two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Wynn of Sidell and Mrs. Mary McVickers of Paris.

Mr. Smith was a retired custodian of the Unit 2 Schools and Carter's Shelter Care.  He was deacon of the Metcalf Christian Church.  He served eight years as mayor of Metcalf and had served on the Village Board for 25 years.  He was also a member of the A.T.A.

OBITUARY - MARY RUTH GLENAGENE MICHELS

SADORUS - Mary Ruth Glenagene Michels, 72, of Sadorus died at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 4, 1998) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne, Tolono.  Burial will be in Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs.. Michels was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Sidell Township, a daughter of Samuel C. and Edna R. Clampet Wynn.  She married Paul Michels St. on June 2, 1950, at Paris, Ill., he survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Paul Michels Jr., James K. Michels and Connie Eugene Michels, all of Sadorus; two daughters, Betty Book of Sullivan and Mary Sue Standifer of Charleston; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Samuel Wynn of Charleston.

She was receded in death by a grandson, a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Michels graduated from Metcalf High School and attended Parkland College in Champaign.
