Yasuko
Inoue, Yasuko san has extensive training of budo in Japan.  She is also fluent in English.  We are very fortunate that she attends De Anza Aikido classes on occasion.

"I practiced Aikido at my college (Osaka University of Foreign Studies in Mino, Osaka) Our Aikido club is a member of Student Union of Aikido in Kansai Area. Our Shihan (at that time) was Kobayashi Hirokazu Shihan who I got first degree black belt from.

How can I explain..., it was a bit different style. I didn't learn so much about the philosophy or history of Aikido there. Senseis or seniors didn't talk so much while practicing. In a sense, a very important thing was to practice as many times as possible.  I guess I learned not with my brain but with my body. My body watched and felt the way Senseis and Seniors did WAZA, and tried to reproduce it, It surely took long time and lots of practice. But I enjoyed it.

After graduation, I had been away from Aikido practice for a long time. However, I felt or I knew I would go back to practice Aikido sometime in the future. I think Aikido is one of a few Budos which people can practice for a very long time. (Even got older.)
Now, I am very much enjoying practicing at De Anza Aikido. Although the style is different from what I was used to, I like the way senseis run the class. I learned (and will learn) so many eye-opening things about Aikido."
