David Brown
David Brown has been a student of the Martial Arts for 34 years.  He has studied Aikido for 32 years.  He currently holds the Aikido rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt (Sandan) issued through the World Aikido Headquarters, Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan.  He has trained with many of OfSenseifs direct students and has attended training seminars across the country.

Throughout the course of his Martial Arts studies, David has trained in a wide variety of Disciplines:  Japanese, Chinese, Philipino, Okinawan, and Korean.  He has studied empty-handed and weapons systems, both classical arts and modern self-defense systems.  As a result, he brings a broad base of experience, skill, and an appreciation of many approaches to his craft and to his teaching. .

In addition to extensive training in the physical dimension of the Martial Arts, David has also delved deeply into the philosophical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of Aikido.  When he was a student at Stanford University, he was a double major in both Asian Studies and Religious Studies.  He has practiced Zen Buddhism, having attended several sesshin (meditation intensives) at the Zen Mountain Retreat Center at Tassajara Springs, California.  (Yes c he had a shaved head before having a shaved head was cool!) He has studied and participated in many different kinds of psychotherapy, particularly those related to personal and spiritual growth from the Human Potential Movement.  He is currently a student of the Enneagram in the Oral Tradition and will be testing for his Professional Certification later this year.

Davidfs greatest interest at this time, centers around the application of the Inner Martial Arts, especially Aikido, to the enhanced appreciation, understanding, and embodiment of Holistic Human Integration; Mind, Heart, Body, and Spirit.  In this capacity he has taught in seminars in America and in Zurich, Switzerland.

Davidfs goal in life is:

gcto approach every moment with the concentration and serenity of the Japanese Tea Ceremony and every movement with the grace and power of Tai Chi.h
