| 14.1 In the classroom |
I will make it understood from the first day of school
that we will be applying both local, state and federal guidelines when it
comes to using technology in the classroom. On the first day of class, students will receive their permission forms in home room so they may use the computers for this school years. They need to take those home and have them signed by a parent and returned before they will be allowed access on the computer. Once the permission forms are in, one will stay with me and one will be given to the media center, where we house our computer lab. Once all of the forms are in we can begin the differentiated instruction using the classroom computer for research, student development skills, and student projects. Before students begin using the computer in the classroom or the lab, I will go over with them the Acceptable Use Policy of the school and the restrictions that they will encounter regarding using the resources from the web. We will discuss fair use and copyright rules as they have been handed down from the state. As a review, we will go over Acceptable Use Policy and the copyright and fair use criteria often, this way before each lab visit they will remember the rules and guidelines they are held by. I will post the Acceptable Use Policy, copyright restrictions and fair use criteria in the computer area, so that students in doubt may access this information at any time. I will have discussions with my students on privacy and the correct use of software. As a group we will work to respect the rights of our classmates and the materials that we are using. I will follow the guidelines of the school, when dealing with infractions, so that the same treatment for offenses that do happen will be given to all students. |
