Photos of Trinidad

The name Trinidad conjures up images of a beautiful, unspoiled, wind-swept, tropical island with beautiful West Indian women (in little or no clothing) running on the beaches. Truth is, most of that image is true, but there is another side to the island.

Trinidad is part of the West Indies. The island is full of beautiful, dark-skinned women, who do run around on the beaches in little or no clothing. Some parts of the island are unspoiled (mostly on the North coastline), but the majority of Trinidad is composed of dirty, crime-ridden little hamlets spread out on the island. That's not to say most of the people are good people...they are. It's just a few that spoil it for the rest.

Years ago, the primary business on Trinidad was coconuts. They had huge coconut plantations along the eastern coastline. It was big business until a research outfit in the US published a report that linked coconut oil to high cholesterol. We all know that is untrue now, but it killed the coconut business on Trinidad. The plantations are mostly abandoned, but a few of the small ones continue to harvest and sell the nuts. Tourism is big business in Trinidad now, as well as oil.

I have been to Trinidad twice, and I look forward to going again.
