Motorcycles are an important part of my life. I've been riding for over 30 years (jeeze, am I that old?) and I have participated in every motorcycle sporting competition known, except ice racing. The though of having my intestines punctured with 3" long spikes doesn't appeal to me. I grew up with motorcycles. When I was a boy, my father owned a Suzuki motorcycle dealership in Houston. That was back in the 70's, the hey-day of motorcycling in the States. I had the best times on a motorcycle, and some of the worst. I learned how to ride at an early age. Racing followed closely. I started with motocross and then graduated to other forms of dirt competition. Road racing came next...the wall at Texas World Speedway and I are on a first name basis! Seriously, I was good at racing, but not the best. However, I enjoyed every minute of it. I ride as often as I can, alone and with my kids, mainly on the street. If I still had a dirt bike, I would ride off-road too. However, I would have to limit my riding time; I'm in good shape for a 42 year old, but it's not the same as being 15. I'm thinking of buying a V-Rod soon. I have never owned a Harley, but I'm getting older, remember? They look great, and have a touch of class (for a Harley). If I were to ride any other Harley, it would have to be a Six Gun from West Coast Choppers. Jesse James builds one good looking bike! His web site is pretty cool too... I'll be adding photos and stories soon, so check back soon. |
