Welcome to the Myrick Hunting Journal. This is where you will read about, and view pictures of, our hunting trips. My son, Justin, and I will be posting all the pictures you see here. We are consciences hunters, and never kill anything we don't eat. 

On a personal note, I have already told you that I am not a fervent hunter, and I believe in the "Live and Let Live" creed. However, in my mind that creed applies to humans only. God put the animals on this earth for us to eat. Hunting is a way for me to touch my "ancestral roots".

If you still have a problem with hunting, think about where the hamburgers you eat come from. And then think about what the pen-raised cattle go through before they are slaughtered for market. This is one reason I don't eat massive amounts of prepared beef (or pork) products.

Worst yet is the way chickens are raised for slaughter. I'm sure ya'll have seen the TV shows showing the NASTY conditions poultry (of all kinds) are raised in. They stand wing to wing for their entire lives. Only when they are slaughtered for market do they get a reprieve.

Wait, I can hear some of you saying, "They are just dumb animals". My point exactly!! There is no difference between a wild deer, dove, duck or goose and the "dumb" animals raised for our food. The wild animals were lucky enough to be born in the woods instead of some dirty pen somewhere in Lousyana, Arkansas.
