Weekend Trips 2003
Geoje-do
Geoje-do is an island about a 45min ferry ride along the coast from Busan. It is now the home of one of our good friends, Eva who is teaching English there. On the first weekend we visited her the three of us joined a local forgein (though not exclusively foreign)hiking group, known as the Hash House Harriers. The pictures you see below are of the initiation ceremony.
Chug, chug, chug. We had to drink
as much beer as we could in ten
seconds....
...and pour the rest over our heads.
Haeinsa:
The three of us on the top of Guk sa bong, or "Eva's mountain". This mountain is right behind her apartment so, being the avid walker she is, she has come to know it quite well :)
Another weekend with Eva (its so nice having good friends from home close by!)
Scenes from the temple in summer. Such a beautiful tranquil place.
"Photographers" at work. In the picture on the right, Eva and Kendra are peering at the famous, Tripitaka Koreana (click for more pictures), the complete buddhist scriptures carved on to long blocks of wood, 750 years old.
