Haeinsa Temple is the home of the Tripitaka
Koreana, a set of 80,000 woodblocks, each
about a foot tall and 2 feet long, which contain
Buddhist scriptures.  If that and the fact that
they were all carved in reverse by hand aren't
amazing enough, they are also 750 years old
and have survived 2 invasions!
Haeinsa Temple and Gaya Mountain
Haeinsa Temple / Gaya Mountain
Kendra taking a peek at the Tripitaka
Our Yeogwan (Hotel) room.  Thats right,
there are no beds.  The heated floor was
comfy though.
Dave's rock, near the peak of Mt. Gaya,
1430m.  Dave just had to climb it and get a
picture... He thought it looked like something
out of a storybook:)  Look carefully, he's on
top of it.
The Summit of Gaya! These crazy fellas
greeted us with Soju (Korean alcohol,
kind of like vodka) and squid snacks
Such is to be expected in Korea:)
The dragon guardposts at Haeinsa temple.  Ancient
Asian sculpture and architecture never ceases to amaze.
