Good Citizen Departs Mr. John W. Colquitt, aged seventy four years, breathed his last At his home near Clouds Creek church Friday night last and his remains Were interred in the church cemetery at Sandy Cross Saturday afternoon, Rev. L. B. Jones, of Athens, conducting the funeral services. Mr. Colquitt was a native of Alabama but came to this county fifty five years ago and has since benn one of our most study citizens. He leaves a widow, three daughters and four sons to mourn for a good husband and father. Mr. Colquitt ever evinced keen interest in the affairs of the county and was quite active in church work, he being a member of Clouds Creek Baptist church. By his death his immediate Community loses a valuable resident and the county a good citizen. ( Compilers note ) John W. Colquitt had two daughters and four sons, but had raised his niece; his wifes sisters had died when her daughter , Gussie Esco was very young. My father and his brothers and sisters considered Gussie their sister and was very much loved by them. |
