Nehemiah
11

1
¶And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest
of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem
the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.
2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves
to dwell at Jerusalem.
3 Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem:
but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in
their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and
the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants.
4 And at Jerusalem dwelt certain of the children of Judah, and of
the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah; Athaiah the
son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son
of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalaleel, of the children of Perez;
5 And Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Colhozeh, the son of
Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah,
the son of Shiloni.
6 All the sons of Perez that dwelt at Jerusalem were four hundred
threescore and eight valiant men.
7 And these are the sons of Benjamin; Sallu the son of Meshullam,
the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son
of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jesaiah.
8 And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight.
9 And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer: and Judah the son
of Senuah was second over the city.
10 Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin.
11 Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of
Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, was the ruler of
the house of God.
12 And their brethren that did the work of the house were eight
hundred twenty and two: and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of
Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur,
the son of Malchiah,
13 And his brethren, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty and
two: and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son
of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,
14 And their brethren, mighty men of valour, an hundred twenty and
eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of one of the great
men.
15 Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam,
the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
16 And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, had
the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.
17 And Mattaniah the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of
Asaph, was the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer: and
Bakbukiah the second among his brethren, and Abda the son of Shammua,
the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.
18 All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and
four.
19 Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren that
kept the gates, were an hundred seventy and two.
20 ¶And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites,
were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
21 But the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel: and Ziha and Gispa were over
the Nethinims.
22 The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son
of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of
Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business
of the house of God.
23 For it was the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain
portion should be for the singers, due for every day.
24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah
the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning
the people.
25 And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children
of Judah dwelt at Kirjatharba, and in the villages thereof, and
at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in
the villages thereof,
26 And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet,
27 And at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba, and in the villages thereof,
28 And at Ziklag, and at Mekonah, and in the villages thereof,
29 And at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth,
30 Zanoah, Adullam, and in their villages, at Lachish, and the fields
thereof, at Azekah, and in the villages thereof. And they dwelt
from Beersheba unto the valley of Hinnom.
31 The children also of Benjamin from Geba dwelt at Michmash, and
Aija, and Bethel, and in their villages,
32 And at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,
33 Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,
34 Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,
35 Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.
36 And of the Levites were divisions in Judah, and in Benjamin.

Amos
3
|
|
1 ¶Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O
children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up
from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore
I will punish you for all your iniquities.
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young
lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for
him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing
at all?
6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?
shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret
unto his servants the prophets.
8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken,
who can but prophesy?
9 ¶Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in
the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains
of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and
the oppressed in the midst thereof.
10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence
and robbery in their palaces.
11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be
even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength
from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth
of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children
of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a
bed, and in Damascus in a couch.
13 Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD,
the God of hosts,
14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel
upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of
the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and
the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have
an end, saith the LORD.

Timothy 6
|
|
1 ¶Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own
masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine
be not blasphemed.
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them,
because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they
are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things
teach and exhort.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words,
even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which
is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes
of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of
the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw
thyself.
6 ¶But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can
carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and
into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction
and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some
coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves
through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto
thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before
many witnesses.
13 ¶I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth
all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed
a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until
the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only
Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man
can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be
honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded,
nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth
us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to
distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the
time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding
profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so
called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace
be with thee. Amen.
<<The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is
the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.>>
