Kings 13

1
¶And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word
of the LORD unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn
incense.
2 And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said,
O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born
unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he
offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee,
and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.
3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which
the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes
that are upon it shall be poured out.
4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the
man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he
put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And
his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could
not pull it in again to him.
5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar,
according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word
of the LORD.
6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now
the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may
be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and
the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and
refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.
8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half
thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread
nor drink water in this place:
9 For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat
no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou
camest.
10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came
to Bethel.
11 ¶Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons
came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that
day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them
they told also to their father.
12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons
had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled
him the ass: and he rode thereon,
14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an
oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from
Judah? And he said, I am.
15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.
16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee:
neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
17 For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat
no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way
that thou camest.
18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel
spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with
thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But
he lied unto him.
19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and
drank water.
20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word
of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:
21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying,
Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth
of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy
God commanded thee,
22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the
place, of the which the LORD did say to thee, Eat no bread, and
drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of
thy fathers.
23 ¶And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after
he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet
whom he had brought back.
24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him:
and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the
lion also stood by the carcase.
25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way,
and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it
in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard
thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto
the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto
the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word
of the LORD, which he spake unto him.
27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they
saddled him.
28 And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass
and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the
carcase, nor torn the ass.
29 And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid
it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to
the city, to mourn and to bury him.
30 And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over
him, saying, Alas, my brother!
31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to
his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre
wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
32 For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against
the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places
which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but
made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places:
whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests
of the high places.
34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to
cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

1 ¶In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth
month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against
Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
2 And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the
ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
3 And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in
the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris,
Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the
king of Babylon.
4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw
them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out
of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate
betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
5 But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah
in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought
him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before
his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains,
to carry him to Babylon.
8 And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the
people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
9 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive
into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city,
and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the
people that remained.
10 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of
the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them
vineyards and fields at the same time.
11 ¶Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning
Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto
him even as he shall say unto thee.
13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban,
Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's
princes;
14 Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison,
and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan,
that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
15 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut
up in the court of the prison, saying,
16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith
the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words
upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished
in that day before thee.
17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou
shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the
sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou
hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

1 ¶And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith
unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are
here!
2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings?
there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be
thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple,
Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign
when all these things shall be fulfilled?
5 ¶And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any
man deceive you:
6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall
deceive many.
7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not
troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be
yet.
8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall
be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to
councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall
be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony
against them.
10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought
beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever
shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye
that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father
the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall
cause them to be put to death.
13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that
shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 ¶But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken
of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him
that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to
the mountains:
15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house,
neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take
up his garment.
17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck
in those days!
18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.
19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the
beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither
shall be.
20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should
be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath
shortened the days.
21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or,
lo, he is there; believe him not:
22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew
signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
24 ¶But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall
be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in
heaven shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with
great power and glory.
27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together
his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth
to the uttermost part of heaven.
28 ¶Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is
yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to
pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.
30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till
all these things be done.
31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass
away.
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels
which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left
his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man
his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house
cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the
morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
