Welcome to the web home of the Mountain Dulcimer
Society of Dayton, located in Dayton, Ohio. The Society has
taken the traditional music of the mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer,
autoharp, guitar and other acoustic instruments to all types of events in
the Dayton area since the mid 1970s. Through our annual club dues of $20, we provide a Core Tune Book with companion CDs, workshops, concerts, monthly jams, and a newsletter with new music and/or dulcimer - related articles each month. Come back often for news and updates.

The Latest News ... 1) November Club Workshop Day We had a great turn out, the soup was just what we needed for a cold November day. We had a wide variety of workshops. Open stage was fun. Hope to see you next November. 2) Stillwater Re-enactors: Our play list of Civil War and Christmas music was well received. Thanks to all who shared their talents. 3) Ivan Stiles weekend in January. What a refreshing break from our winter doldrums. His concert at Troy-Hayner was just plain entertaining. His fine autoharp work, his audience engaging manner, and just plain good singing along with the audience just made for an uplifting evening. The autoharp workshops were well attended and everyone went home with great ideas to improve their playing. That's what it is all about. The MDSD Board will start planning for next year's workshop soon. 4) MDSD Playdate for the Vandalia Seniors in February was a lot of fun. It took a while after the music ended to pack up our stuff. So many folks came up to thank us and inquire about the instruments. I know that it was a good playdate just to play and share. Wow, Jamie, Joyce and Mary-Jo ... thanks for sharing the background and history of your instruments with such enthusiasm and love. Thanks to those MDSD members who came: Roger & Glenna, Mary-Jo, Joyce, Erin, Dwight, Jamie, Marsha, Morene, and Shari. 5) March 4 Playdate at the VA Center just off US 35 west of Dayton. Once again, we had a really nice time at the VA and made some special memories. We became the 'backup' band for one of the veterans as he sang and played the guitar. Website last updated:
