| I am now currently in my third semester of studies here at Edinboro as a Broadcast Communications / Media Major. I was unfortuately suspended for the period of the Fall 2000 semester as a result of poor academic performance. During that time I was an employee at Wal-Mart 2300 in North Fayette Township, PA (near Pittsburgh International Airport.) Working there wasn't too bad but I knew that I couldn't do that for the rest of my life, so hence I reapplied to EUP, received readmission, and have since been busting my butt trying to get my QPA up. Being here is no less difficult that it was the first year, but I also have a plan and inspiration to stay here. The inspiration is that if I screw up again, I will be working at Wal-Mart for the rest of my life, and believe me, that is more than enough inspiration. The plan is to work hard and show it, because some professors do grade and give deductions or bonuses depending on the effort put forth. So far this semester, I have been doing fairly well. I am not doing as well as I would want to, but I am on par to be remaining here at Edinboro and having my academic status upgraded to "Good Standing" rather than "Academic Probation." The classes that I am currently taking are PHIL200 (Intro to Philosophy and Values), ENGL101 (College Writing Skills), THEA218 (Intro to Theatre), ECON100 (Principles of Economics), and COMM107 (Fundamentals of Speech). I also was a member of the Basketball Pep Band and played my trumpet at all of the Fighting Scots' home games at the McComb Fieldhouse. This semester, I am currently living in Rose Hall, and I HATE IT IN THIS BUILDING! I lived in Earp Hall last year, and I truly miss it over there. My plan is either to live in Earp or at the apartments next year, I want out of Rose with a heated passion. In college, I have met some people that have been an inspiration on my life. The first and foremost is one of my best friends, Justin. Justin has been there to help me out and stick a boot in my @$$ when needed. He has been VERY successful here (made the Dean's List every time) and has given me some pointers to help my academic success. Although I probably have never said this to him in person, I give a very sincere THANK YOU to him for all he has helped me with. Next is my girlfriend Sandy. She has been very helpful as well and has been there for me whenever needed. She is also a great influence on my life and has helped me to mature into adulthood. When I came to EUP in 1999, academics were far from the top of the priorities list, and she has helped me to make it number one. She has celebrated with me during the good times and helped me with the hard times. It is really hard to put Justin and her as #1 and #2, so both of them are #1, because they have helped me in so many ways that it would take me until the day I graduate to list them all here. Next are my friends Kristi, Ange, and Jo. They have been there through it all as well. They are the type of people that will talk to you if you need someone to talk to. They have never let me down and I hope they can say the same about me. I never thought that so many changes could happen in so little time (about a year and a half) but that is life. As my Fundamentals of Speech professor Dr. Christiansen put it, "The march of time moves at a very fast pace, and it waits for no one.", and he was not kidding.
