Quote(s) of the day: 1. :::_insert ear piercing scream here_::: "They're here!!! They're here!!! Albino brain chiggers!!! Cover your ears!!!" ~ Harry Solomon, upon seeing snow on '3rd Rock from the Sun'
2. "...I'm going to stuff myself with family. Oooo ~ that doesn't look right. It sounds as if I'm some kind of cannibal." ~ Me, upon being asked 'How are you?' on Wanderercommunity.com on Thanksgiving Day.
Website of the day: What does a trilobyte taste like?
Ray Wallace died ~ they asked an interesting question on NPR yesterday. Will the Bigfoot legend die down now that he's gone? (Personally ~ I don't think so.)
My god. It seems as if it's been forever since I wrote something here. I suppose it has, in a way. Just so we can get it out of the way and move on the more interesting things, here's the latest development in the insane thing that happened (what else can I call it? Otherwise, it cannot be explained. lol): I haven't heard from him since I got the email I mentioned in the last entry but...quite by accident I heard that he is now 'hopelessly in love' with a twenty something who won't give him the time of day. I knew that he tried to get this girl before ~ hind sight being what it is, he probably never quit trying. OH, can I pick 'em or what? At least now there are folks that know what this guy is capable of: during the same conversation, folks asked questions. I didn't want to answer them at first, dirty laundry and all. In the end though ~ I told them what he did. I believe one guy summed it up quite well: Ick.
Still, there is the idiot part of me that hurt mightily when I heard about this chase. It wanted to believe the whole mess between us was for real ~ and that perhaps, maybe things will change. Sorry Sweetie. I'm afraid it won't. Gone forever.
You know, I really wasn't interested in this thing being 'forever'...but I wasn't interested in what I got, either. :::sigh:::
I suppose I should explain myself on the C.M. front, since I've talked enough about him in this journal over the years (hee!) I promise I'll do it soon.
On the spooky front: My mom and I had a strange thing to happen when we came back from our usual Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle. We were sitting out in the car, like we usually end up doing, while we talked. I guess we sat out there a good hour (but, while once it may have been considered so, that's not the spooky thing...) and we both noticed one of the suncatchers in the kitchen window rotating back and forth (there are six of the things hanging in this window. They're those little plastic things like what you see in the craft department of Wally World. I hung them there at least 15 years ago, once I finished painting them. It was the one second from the right, if you were outside looking in, that was turning.) More accurately, we saw the light from the outdoor light reflecting off of it as it turned since the light in the kitchen was off. I knew that there didn't used to be a draft in that particular spot, or that there was a fan on in the kitchen (besides, only this one was moving). Just to be sure, I asked my mom if there was a fan running...only to be told, "You know, I noticed that a few minutes ago. I can't figure out what's making it do that."
We actually sat there a while longer, looking up every so often to see the thing still rotating back and forth. It never stopped the entire time we watched ~ at least thirty minutes, maybe more. We were busy talking. However, once we decided to go in and check it out...
Not one of them were moving ~ or looked as if they had moved in a long time. I couldn't help it. I laughed and almost yelled, "Yay! I missed these strange events in my life!!" Boy, have I! hehehe
Otherwise, Thanksgiving was interesting, if a little surreal. We didn't watch football as usual...this time, we watched the national dog show. Once that went off and lunch was over, we played a trivia game. That had never happened before ~ usually, everyone's too involved with football or telling everyone about the latest gossip on so-and-so.
Oh yeah, another strange thing happened: we got snow and ice on the night of December third and morning of the fourth. Neither my mom or I could remember it ever snowing so early. It did get me out of class for a day and a half, though.
Speaking of which...
Today was the last official day of classes for the Fall semester. Next week, it begins: finals. I have my voice final on Monday (written test and singing 'Vergin, Tutto Amor'). The final critiques for Drawing III (a portfolio of at least 8 well developed drawings) takes both Tuesday and Thursday while Painting (all the paintings we've done over the semester) and Algebra are also on Thursday (full day, that.)
I will be glad when it's over. As much as I've loved these classes, I am suffering from a full blown case of end of semester brain death. I sat in algebra this morning, looking at the review (that I'll admit to having for a few weeks now and just never had a chance to work on it) and realizing that while I remember going over all that stuff, I had no clue how to do a lot of it. Of course, my arch enemies ~ slopes and x-/y- intercepts ~ will be on the test. Actually, my instructor informed us that that will be the first question. :::_insert much head banging on the desk here_:::
I've got my work cut out for me. At least my schedule is more to my liking next semester: no mornings before 9:35 and I don't believe that I stay later than 2:30. I've got Painting II; Art History II, private voice lessons, Intro to Art and geometry.
O.k..that's it. I'm tired of typing. See ya tomorrow.
