Latest Acquisitions:
The Broken Wings ~ Kahlil Gibran. I stopped at a yard sale yesterday and the lady gave it to me. I hope I wasn't her only customer because I couldn't find anything else that appealed to me! I did offer her the dime that she originally asked for but she wouldn't take it. Inscribed inside is a note from 'Pooh' to Judy, saying that it was something to help Judy pass the time as she recovers...on 11/2/68. As I read the preface and the author asks his companions in his home town to remember him as they pass the cemetary and that his grief hangs over an old flame's grave, my first thought was, "Gee ~ Pooh must not have wanted Judy to recover much."

Walt Disney ~ an American Original ~ (I forget who wrote it and I'm too lazy to go upstairs to get it) Gee, synchronicity hits again. I barely mention a Disney movie in the last post and I find a biography of Walt the next day.

Gee, I'm not having too much luck getting started back with this journal. Perhaps it would be better to say that I'm not having too much willpower to start back here. Add Finals on Friday (7:30 a.m! ICK!) and the fact that I'm going to be back in the field tomorrow and Wednesday on top of everything...maybe I'll be able to get a few words in.

Here's the tractor that I've been raving about since last August. Isn't it a beaut (as much as tractors can be, anyway)? It's been kind of funny ~ last year was my year for tearing everything up. I couldn't keep the rake on the tractor, and in the rare moments that it stayed on ~ it would get wrecked. It went through spark plugs like crazy ~ when it was running. This year...not one problem. I haven't hit any sinkholes (much to the relief of my mom) or knocked the rake off once. If I've had to stop this year, it was because I saw something interesting in the grass (there are all kinds of voles over there), getting a drink of water or I was finished. I'm quite proud of the fact that I've only made turns twice that were sharp enough to tap the rake on the rear tire (that was a big problem last year.)

Yep ~ my dad's had most of the trouble this year, if you can call it that. Mostly, the hay has just been too dry to bale. The baler will pick it up, swoosh it around a while and spit it back out the way it came. Oh yeah...he's knocked the rake off the John Deere by running one of the tires off into a wash. (I don't know why that makes me happy...hehehe I guess because it's not me this time!)

Should be interesting to see how things go tomorrow. My career as 'social engineer' (at least in this instance) may be over. I guess my tolerance for such things is just a bit too low...and my subtlety too.

A Tangent:
There is an attorney in Bowling Green who is running an ad on the local tv stations...she says, "If you have been in an accident with any questions, give me a call."

Those damn questions! Always causing trouble!

I hope my message got through tonight. I tried using the message system on wanderercommunity to ask a new found friend if the offer to help me with math is still open. Everytime I tried to send the message, the screen would say, 'send a message to Firewolf' (now why would I want to send a message to myself?) Finally, I just hit send. It didn't show up in my mailbox, so here's to hoping...

As I was trying to say, the latest batch of pastels are in the works. I've had to modify my ideas a bit since the cards try to roll up when I spray them with fixative. So now, when they're nearing completion, I'll spray mount them to some illustration board. That should make them more durable. Well, here's the best so far. I don't know if they'll make it into circulation or not ~ just ignore some of the muddy colors and other problems for the moment...and be kind. The cat only has a prelim layers of pastels.
