The Ozzie Davis Files
WELCOME!
Oza "Ozzie" Davis at work on his typewriter, 1967.
Welcome to the Ozzie Davis Files.  Ozzie Davis was our cousin from the first marriage of Lawson Gamble Davis to Rutha Glover of Glascock County in 1867.  Lawson and Rutha divorced sometime prior to his second marriage to Orpha Jane Wilcher in 1873.  The marriage of Lawson and Rutha produced two children, John Thomas and James F.  Ozzie Davis' father was John Thomas Davis.  During the 1960s and 1970s, Cousin Ozzie paid several individuals to conduct family genealogy research on his behalf.  Upon his death, Ozzie's files were given to our branch of the Davis family to assist in our continued research efforts.  It is with grateful appreciation that we publish selected highlights from his research efforts.
Although much time and money was spent chasing dead ends, some of this research has assisted us in confirming (or denying) some information found on the Internet.  All of this documentation is typed on onion skin paper or handwritten.  This requires a great deal of effort to scan or transcribe these documents.  We will continue to add information to this page as time allows.  Please forgive the mistakes in spelling and punctuation caused by transcription errors.
